I have a dear friend who this week celebrates the birth of her first grandaughter, who is extra special as she is the first female child in a vert male dominated family. How you cause to celebrate new birth recently whether child, grand child, great great child or a close friend giving birth. Please share. Huggles. Ellie :D

My friends sister has had a similar situation they have been trying to get pregnant for a very long time and she'd already had two miscarrages so when she went overdue they took her in to monitor her but eveything went fine, They've called him Nathen and he was 7lb 3oz. Ps have you got a gift yet? I could do you some washcloth/sock cupcakes or my friend dale does some gorgeous baby clothes bouquets could email you pics x

We love a new baby in our family and we make many pretty things to welcome them into the world. If things are going well we send money, if not we get out the sewing machine and scrapes of fabric to make soft toys and covers. Even if we only get to see pictures we love all the babies.

Hi Savypat, How lovely to make toys and covers in this way, in a pre3vious response a silver coin is given to make sure that the babies needs are always met as it represents the start of a savings account which I find tounching. Huggles Ellie :D

Congratulations on the birth of the baby. Having a new member in the family is always a joy to have. My youngest grandchild has just turned 6 months old. He is the only baby we have as of late. I do so much enjoy all of the babies.

Hello Ellie, my daughter grew up, and I along with her for a lot of the part, in a house full of guys, her four brothers and my husband, so we were the odd ones out. She is 20 now and her first child was a little girl. I was thrilled beyond belief, she let me name her which I named Cicilia Emma (hence Cicisnana), and that is Cicilia in the picture with me. As you might guess we're quite the characters together. Now my daughter has another baby, but this time the dominant male gene stepped forward, but my grandson is just as adorable. But IDK, there is just a bond between myself and my granddaughter...I can't even explain it. We do just the regular celebration. A quiet little family gathering with the baby either at the hospital or at home. Bring a balloon, get a flower. Buy mom and dad pizza :)...just the regulars...have a good day Ellie

My granddaughter is most definitely my pride and joy. Funny, I thought I had a different picture of her and I up...so I am going to have to find that other picture and put it there. She is just the best thing ever in my life and I cherish her above all else. While I love my grandson, there is just something special between Cicilia and I. CICILIA and DANTE'S NANA

Congratulations on the birth of your friend's daughter! With best wishes and may the angels guard her from any harm! In our family just like in many others, births are always special and are celebrated with prayers followed by a small feast, usually served with traditional food.

in our family, each time a baby is born, we give them a silver coin to hold, to ensure that they will always have enuf money for their needs, and the coin starts off baby's savings x

Hi Wendie, I forgot all about that tradition, I still do it the first time I meet a new born baby but never realised why, so I have learnt something there. Huggles. Ellie :D

hi ellie333 I wish I had some news like that but my son appears to be headed for perpetual bachelorhood. sad but it is his decision so little I can do. It will really be very special for both grandmother and mother when she has a girl after all the boys.Good Luck to grandmother, mother and granddaughter to be.
