Coping with Achromatopsia

I am curious how people cope with this unique impairment, as I have heard of many different methods. Personally I wear tinted lenses with a prescription indoors at almost all times. When I do go outside I have a pair of prescription sunglasses that I wear which help alot though I still have to squint to see due to the extreme light sensitivity which comes with this disability. I mostly avoid going outside however as I naturally dislike direct sunlight. It is recommended I use a white cane, however I refuse as I do not like to draw that kind of attention to myself. I used to sleep all day and just wake up at night to do all my activities which was very pleasant as my friends are up at night also. It is impossible for me to get a drivers license which makes traveling a very difficult venture. I am currently trying to get government support, however last time I attempted it I was refused for seeming too independant. In sum that is how I cope with Achromatopsia. How do you cope?

well, it is wonderful that you don't just consider this to be hampering or troubling you at all. CHEERS on that. It is not a disability. You have your senses working overtime, and so, there is a small aberration and error. YOU are doing well, trying to cope up with the discomfort. ... SOMETIMES, being independent and different, also has its troubles, Like IN your case, not getting support from the government. I would say, GO to the CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER, who takes care of certifying people with difficulties and disabilities. I hope he/she will look into your case sympathetically. and recommend the needful. goodluck.
