Hi mylotters, chatting with friends the other I told them the 2 things in this world I have come to rely on and could not live without now are: The cell phone (mobile phone) and the internet. My friends agreed with me. I have noticed that the cell phone is constantly used by all age groups and races, and the internet is now part of everyday living. It is hard to think how we survived before their inventions! Can you live with either of these devices?

Hi LeighB! Simply said I can't. My work, my income depend a lot on them. Even if I were to live in somewhere rural and country I would still need my cell phone and the internet. It's a part of live we not only get accustomed to but rely on them as well.

We made it to become one in the first place. There is a push-pull factor here.

Cell phone, yes...I can live without it. But the internet????? AAAAAAHHHHHGGGGGHHHHH!!!! NEVER NEVER NEVER come between me and my internet. I live a virtual life these days. Like the rest of you, I make money online and keep in touch with loved ones through email and social network websites. I even watch my TV shows online. My computer has basically taken the place of 1)USPS, 2)Television 3)a "regular" job and 4)a DVD player. When my computer has to go into the hospital, I literally go through DTs! Try to take my computer away...go on...I dare ya. You'll pull back a bloody stump, sucka!!!

I am like everybody here, internet dependant. I have recently brought a laptop. Now if my pc needs servicing I still have a back up. The only trouble is I have become more dependant as I can now travel and still connect.

I would be lost without a cell phone or the internet, I use both for so much of my day to day activities and with all of my research and friend networks. My phone I need for safety but also for keeping in touch with my friends that want to hangout or something.

I am sorry that you have no special person in your life at present. But the cell phone and internet can open doors to communicating with friends, family and people all around the World. Making the World a smaller place.

I agree I am internet and cell phone junkie. :) To be honest I hardly watch regular t.v. at all now. I spend a serious amount on the internet. So I watch t.v. via internet on lulu.com. And as for the cell phone I feel empty when I accidently leave it at home.

Since the development of the Internet and Technology, people seem to rely almost everything on the use of computers and other technology devices. One of the most popular devices used today are the cellular phones and computers for internet. Cellphones simply make communication faster and easier while computers make research, papers, and other work easier. These are just some of them, because they make life and work easier for us. If we talk about life of course we can still live without cell phone and internet, but we cannot do things easier, because of this the evolution and development of technology will be more harder in discovery.

Hi markphil, I am sure we can all live without the cell phone and the internet but would we choose to! I personally know when the internet line is down and I can't connect I feel really cut offbut then I still have the cell phone to keep in touch. But I am not sure that having gotten used to them both being part of my life that nowadays I could live the life I have chosen without their aide to communication.

This is a thought-provoking post. It made me fall into deep thoughts if I really can live without those two.I thought of my life before. I didn't have cellphone and computer but I can continue my life normally. When I read your post, I imagine myself without having a cellphone and internet. My answer will be, I think I can live without them but it would be very difficult for me. Before life is simple. Although there were already the technology, they were not that needed compare with today. We just thought of cellphone and internet a luxury which we can ignored. However, both of them are considered necessity. Actually, in terms of cellphone, I am not too addicted in buying for the latest model. As long as I can use it to communicate, that will be fine with me.We also didn't have an internet connection before. However, life is changing so fast. Technology is now part of everyone's life.We discovered that there are many things we can get from technology and one such good thing is to earn money. As of now, I am only relying on my online earnings for some of my expenses. I am not yet teaching again and I think that my online job will help me a lot in gaining money.

I was recently on a very short vacation, the beaches of San Juan, La Union is very far from the city in which I live in right now but it's not too far from urban areas. I can definitely see myself being able to live there. Specially because cellphone network and Internet have strong signals :) I can live without those of course, if I really had to, but I would rather have them.

in our trend now a days, wherein cell phone and internet are used as a mean for communication, i can't live without them. it feels so isolated if you haven't have any of the two. it allows me to keep connected with my friends specially now that we seldom have the luxury of time to meet. i barely can't imagine the life before where the only means of communicate is through snail mail.

Thanks for your post. I made me think that we are quite lucky to have known life before these 2 inventions and how they have improved our lifestyles. The younger generation grow up just taking them as granted. I guess the same way we did with the T.V

I can live without both these but my life will be little less enjoyable. I am so involved in all the stuffs online that I can't even think about remaining away from it. But if I desperately have to remain away, then I know that it will be little difficult to do for first few days. But after few days, when I will remember a little less about my online works then it will be easier to remain away.

Well, I am sure I would not die without these means of communication, but it would be very hard for me to handle such loss. Internet is one of the main sources of entertainment for me, life would be much more boring without it. I am not so dependent on cell phones, because all my friends live close to me, but still, it would be hard to communicate with them in some situations without mobile communication.

Both the cellphone and internet have done a lot for modern technology. We have come a long way in the world of communication with them. I would have to say i could live without a cell phone. It wouldn't be the end of the world. On the other hand, I would difinitely miss the internet. There would be no more mylot and that iin itself would be heartbreaking for me.

Cellphone and internet are the two most important things I can't live without. Cellphone for communication, Internet for online jobs and for communication as well. If I cut out my internet connection then I lose monthly income - that is a stupid move, if I throw my cellphone away, how can I be reach by everybody considering that I don't have a residential landline phone.

The Internet is the one thing I cannot live without. I use the Internet to make money and my husband uses it for his schooling (he is working towards his Associates Degree then will move on to getting his Bachelors Degree). We had to give up our cell phone because money has been so tight. It has been hard giving up the cell phone.

Thanks for sharing with us. No doubt when times get better you will get a new cell phone. It must be quite difficult to adjust back to relying on just a land line.

Quick answer is 'absolutely not' I can somehow live without my cellphone. I only need it for emergency purposes. I sometimes wish I don't have it, especially when I am very busy and people keep calling to ask stupid questions. Internet....ahhh...what can I say? I would be lost without it. I do everything with internet. My business, keeping in touch with my family and friends...the list is endless. It probably would be a different matter if we live with my family or my husband's family - that is in the same town or not too far from each other. As we are living very far from both, internet plays a vital role in communication.

Thanks for your reply zralte, like you I need the net 100% to keep in touch and run my daily life. Without I would be lost. As for the phone, well, I need it to run my business and chat to my family back in the U.K. it is one insistance that my parents have... they want to hear my voice, that way they knowing I am O.K and not too far away.

I can live without a cell phone, but I can't live without the internet. My main communication is through AIM, YAHOO, and other IM sites. A cell phone is something I don't even have so not having it wouldn't make much of a difference in my life.

I think everybody will be the same as you. the internet has become part of life, like sleeping and eating. So, if I had to make a choice, I would get rid of the cell phone.
