I mean the churches, the ministers and the priests! They are always asking for money! You just wonder were it is going for? Do they use the money for like to upkeep on the church? Do they use it to pay the people who work at the church like the clergy? Do they used it to spend the word over seas like in a African country? If the chrch has a school do they used some of the money to help the school out? I wonder because I used to belong to a church and all this did was ask for money! They never said what they needed it for! Then they once handed out a piece of paper with incomes on it and then saying this how much you can donate on the certain incomes! That to me is an insult! You should be able to donate what you can and be told what the money is used for! Simple as that!

It goes to people higher up, just like with all of our taxes. Most of it isn't even used for what they say it is.

Religion is a means to control people, not to guide them, but to control them. Stop the play, take away the props, and lift the curtain away from the back. Then you will see how things are, nothing but a brick wall.

Hi blue65packer Our church has an annual budget that we, the congregation, votes on. Our mission leaders submit budget requests. We have several missionaries that we send support some, some multi-generational. We have salaries, insurance, utilities. We have cell groups that do studies. I have absolute trust in the administration of finances in my church. I think it is important to have trust in your church, pastor, leaders, etc. We have an excellent treasurer who knows how to pinch a penny. Need I say more? Prosperous mylotting

Herro blue5packer I wish you lived where I lived and I could show you a fantastic, totally open church. We have a school and built a new Gym with cafeteria and classrooms, totally debt free. We would fund raise, build a part, etc. We had a lot of member contribution. We call it "God's Building"! We have no mortgage, only daily expenses. The budget is totally transparent. Prosperous mylotting and God Bless You

TexasLady, I don't think you will ever see a day when you can't do everything God wants you to with a dime in your pocket. A good peresonal relationship with God doesn't cost you anything. Why on earth would you ever need money to serve God? That isn't what God wants from us. Art

The churchs I was a member I don't recall anything about a budgut and having to vote on it. Maybe the churchs I was a member did this. I never paid attention to that stuff and if I did I still would think chruch members are being had. I am sorry I am so negative but I never had alot of good experiences while I was a church member!

This is why I like MY Church. The congregation is asked for money, but we're not shoved into paying it, nor frowned upon if we don't, nor are we blindly asked to give. All our expenses are known to anyone, just for the asking. Often, it's (beyond the usual bills for Church upkeep, which are kept minimal) given to a selected family (not necessarily a member) who has some sort of financial crisis, due to circumstances beyond their control. I'm thrilled that we do this, which is part of the reason pockets & wallets always empty out when it happens. And of course our priests, monks & nuns are paid. Some of them also hold down jobs to make ends meet. They have the right to be paid for their work, although, many times in history, they've had to beg for help in truly hard times. "The laborer is worthy of his hire," says the Bible, & you may not realize just how much & how difficult that work is! Anyway, they have all taken vows of poverty, & they keep them. The clergy is never pushy, in the way you describe! I have no problem them giving money when I can; I consider it a small sacrifice for the benefits received! Just find a better church, & don't feel guilty if you haven't got the money! Maggiepie “We must not lose our faculty to dare, especially in dark days.” ~ Churchill in March, 1942

I believe you should be able to look around in your church and see where the money is going. I believe now in giving the ten percent of what I earn to the Church where I am going. Before this I was able to go to the church and see an Easter Musical, on that day I was asked not to donate money because that service was a gift to me and others. I and my daughter got a book on Jesus and a free cd about Jesus, with refreshments and cookies. When I accepted Jesus Christ I got a free Bible and this other book where I learned Bible verses and was able to use my bible with it, and to help me become a better Christian, I get a free ride to Church and from Church to home, I also would add that my daughter got a free Bible even tho she accepted Jesus in her heart later on. I can see the blessing of going to Church in my life and the life of my daughter, for the first time in her life she loves going to church, I see what little I give to the Church working miracles in others as it has worked miracles in me because I can see what God has done for me and for others because the Church I go to lets God work miracles in it. So I hope and pray that every dollar I give to my Church multiplies so that others can hear God's word and be as blessed as I am.

BLUE: You are guilty of bigotry, which, from other posts you've made, is not something I've felt you haven't ever intended to be, I'm certain. You have not BEEN to "all churches," so logically you have no basis on which to make such an outrageous claim! ARE there bad churches? Of course! Do they worship money, & not God? Of course these evil organizations exist! But you dishonor & besmirch all good churches by painting with such a lazy, broad brush! When I find I've had a bigoted mindset, I do whatever it takes to weed it out! You must do the same, if you want to be thought fair, & intellectually honest. You need to stop that woolly thinking, & look for good churches. Balance is the key, here. NOTHING on this planet is entirely anything! I understand that Church is not for you. Some questions: Why are you posting this under Christian? Do you still feel like a Christian? If you do feel like a Christian, what will be the answer for Christians to gather together without the benefit of a church and read the Bible and well make some of them missionaries and preach the Word? And what does a Church has to do to prove to you that the money given to them is well spend? It if is nothing that's fine, but really planting seeds of doubt on those of us that are quiet content with our church is not a way to go, find the right channel for that, or create one.

I think all churches are corrupt to a piont! I have always thought of that and always will! I grew up attending church alot and then gave it a chance later as an adult. Never liked it and never will! I will always look at all churches being corrupt and never go to one again! they can't be trusted!
