Cell phones have made many products to vanish from the market. First is the land line phones, wrist watches, then the fm radio sets, then it is the cd players and ipods....oh, I forget the digital cameras. And 3g services have made broadband internet connection easy with cellphones. Now online transaction of money through cell phones are under trial. That will put an end to all those credit and debit cards. Now, what else can a cellphone replace in the future?

T-Mobile just released the Garminfone - which provides GPS directions both on and off network, eliminating the need to carry both. Additionally, many smartphones are coming out with 1GHZ processors, putting them on the same level as most netbook computers.

Thanks for the information about the new release. that will be great to have gps even when your network is off. That 1 ghz processor is surely amazing which would eradicate a netbook from the field. Soon, the laptop manufacturers should think a lot to meet the competition.

Most probably, after a few years,it might even act as a Doctor.Just think, if you are a heart patient, and the cell phone will find out, when you are going to have a heart attack, or a diabetic patient, will find out, if he is having low sugar or high sugar.Just like the computer, the mobile phone will also be operated with a thumb print, and this thumb print will carry all the messages of our body.

That will be a boon for senior citizens. A cell phone monitoring their health always will make them free from tensions. I think sugar patients will be thankful as they can check their sugar level easily. As one another member stated too, cellphones can become our identity with the thumb print idea.

Well, now that you asked, I've come to thinking that very soon cellphones will somehow replaced computers. I'm thinking that maybe it could even start replacing passports or visa. WE just have to see what else the future has in store for us, won't we? In the meantime, let's just treasure it's basic uses.

Even now there are some cell phones which can be used as a computer. With the 3g connections, the speed of internet is far better in cell phones too. And most of us find it useful more than a computer with its portability. Well, cellphones can be our identity in the future, as you guess. We are closely related to our phones to that extent.
