i check the expiration date on most of the things that i buy...one good tip that i do follow until today is that when i get something off the shelf, i always reach to the back of the shelf and get the one that's there. usually when the shops re-stock their shelves, they put the 'new and fresh' items at the back of the shelf and the older ones toward the front..

Yes you right.Even in the malls like there poultry and meat products,I usually get at the bottom cause I know that it is the new one. They put the old one on top.

and if i do take anything from the front of the shelf...it'll be because it's going to be cooked or used on that very same day..

Absolutely yes..!! It is a must to check the expiration of all goods that you gonna buy. But don't just concentrate on the expiration date specially that you are talking of canned goods here. Make sure also that there's no dent on the tin can or there's no deformity of whatsoever. You'll get sick faster than the expiration date itself..!!

I do check but I have never had a problem except for a 99 cent store nearby. One time I saw several cases on display, way passed the date, and it was gray. (ew) Of course that is why the food is cheer there. I just don't buy food there, just plates, pitchers, utensils, any thing else.

The store owner must be aware of it and besides you can report it to department of trade and industry that still they are selling expired products.

I didn't use to check something like that when I was very young. Basically, the shopkeeper near me knew me well and never gave me expired stuff. When I shifted to the town later, I got a severe vomiting trouble after consuming expired jam. Ever since, I never forget to check the expiry date! Happy mylotting, Regards, AJith.

Here in india it is compulsory for the manufactures of medicines, food articles to print the expiration date on the packet, pouch. Usually on spice, flour, oil, they write, 'BEST BEFORE 6 MONTHS', they give date or month of manufacture, no expiry date, but in medicices both are mentioned. Yes i always check the date Thanks for this post. kalyani
