Is your salary paid weekly or monthly?

Here we tend to get our salaries every month. But I know in some countries the salaries may be paid weekly. Which do you prefer?

Monthly. It is the common way to do it where I live. So everything else, all bills and credit cards etc. are built around that too. It would be really hard if it was changed to weekly because of this. Interesting discussion by the way!

Here also most of the bills comes monthly. I think monthly salary helps to pays the bills once on a month basis.

Here in the Philippines, usually people get a bi-monthly salary. When I worked in Australia, we had a weekly salary. And I prefer the weekly salary. Now that I am working as a Virtual assistant. My clients pay me weekly. I think this is better than the bi-monthly salary.

What is better about a weekly salary? I have never had one, so I would be interested in knowing more about what the differences are, as you see it.

In my job as a programmer, the salary is given every 15 days. The give it every start and every 15th of each month. Actually, I am already used to it so I prefer it. From a friend I've learned to budget based on when they give my salary. Since they give it every 15th, I have to budget every 15 days. If they would give it every month, I'll budget it every month. I find it very effective and I guess it is the best way to budget our salaries.

I worked for one company who had a marvelous system. They paid every 4 weeks so that was the monthly amount you worked with every month except on month of the year you got two paydays. It was wonderful particularly if it was near Christmas when it happened

Our salary is released every last working day of the month. It would be better if my salary is being released every 15th and the 30th of the month. I would be able to manage my finances much wisely if this is the case. Some workers receive their pays weekly, but this seems to be too time consuming for the HR personel incharge of the payroll,so a bi-montly salary seems to be fair enough.

I also think twice a month is nice in salary and most of us would be broke at the end of the month.

Both the countries I worked at, the salary was paid monthly. The first place was very prompt and I have no complaints. The salary went straight to the bank (except the first time when I was paid in cash because I was yet to create an account and also because I had not been working for a whole month). The second place was crazy. Though we were made to open a salary account in a bank where none of us had an account, very few months did we get paid through the bank. The rest of the months we were paid in cash...that too...not on time..sometimes late(very late) and sometimes in bits/installments. I would go crazy trying to work my accounts there. It was so bad that some of my colleagues lost count of which month's salary they were getting. This school is asking me to return to work...but this one aspect keeps me away (not that they were even paying a salary on par with the rest of the international schools)

It is really bad to get the salary very late. As the employees need to pay for their bills or even return money to the bank.

our salaries here in Philippines (private) are mostly paid in bi monthly. so salary pay out happens twice a month. I can only say for the 3 companies i have worked with, thought they have different cut offs, we are paid as such. my 2brother's company are also paying twice a month. =)

I am from India and is working as a medical transcriptionist. I get paid monthly and mostly around 5th of every month. Before I worked there were companies, which paid around 15th. I think it is great to get paid monthly so that we can get money together and pay some of the bills and take the money for other needs. I think if we get paid weekly our expenses will be more.

Hi ajithlal, I too have been getting my wage monthly sine my first work after my college graduation. Our get our salary normally three days before the end of every month. Initially the wage was paid via check. And we had to queue up in a long line to cash out the check. Unlike nowadays it's so convenient that just credit in the check to the atm and withdraw the cash later from the automatic machine

Hi youless, here we get our pay three days or so before the end of every month. The pay is transferred straight away to our bank account on time monthly. This has put in practice after having the atm service. It's very much convenient that we don't have to waste time to get our money out from the bank account limited during bank office working hours only Nowadays we can get money out relaxingly whenever we like from any atm available here. I like and feeling happy as well to be paid monthly for it's a great pleasure to see more money accumulated in my account. Some time we might spend extra money earlier if getting weekly pay or half month pay. My current part time work salary is paid monthly as well Happy posting

It's very true youless. There are always some bad eggs lurking around to grab opportunity to rob our money. This happens every now and then, especially the few days by the end of every month. That is the time which many people would change their cheque to cash from the bank. There were many cases happened before that clerks with responsibility for depositing in or taking out great amount of cash for company monthly payment of emolument were roped somewhere around the banks here. So it's concluded that it's much safer to bank in wage of employees directly into their respective account Btw thanks for giving the BR

I get paid once a month. How I wish I were paid weekly as it would help me get cash again and again and keep my pockets full. Also, I think one can better manage one's money if it is provided in small amounts and more frequently. Monthly salaries often get splurged in the first two weeks itself and it is a very hard time during month-ends. How we keep waiting for payday!

If you can get salary weekly, perhaps you will spend them all easily and it is hard for you to save something at the end.

Salary - This is a man getting his Monthly Salary lots lots lots of money Too bad its not going into my hands. Overall nice picture shows how some people are wealthy and really live that life haha.
My Father use to be a Manager at a big company and he got paid every 2 weeks I think he made 60k + He loved his job a lot haha.. Believe me haha they use to have so many events and we attend them as a family which was very nice :) If anything I will prefer to get paid weekly then monthly because bills In the United States are random they can be any day of the month. If I had the choice between Salary and hourly I will pick Hourly if I was a manager because in the end. you can work 80 hours in one week and get paid the same thing over and over no matter how hard you work which sucks

Heyya youless...I get paid every other Thursday. I have had weekly jobs but there is much smaller amounts to work with at once. I have never had a monthly paid job so I can't really say what I prefer. I do like having the larger amount at once to budget though.
