do you have that you think makes your electricity bill too high but you cannot live without it? For me, it's the air con inside my room. I really want to get rid of it but I can't since the weather is too hot and I can't sleep properly without it. An electric fan is not enough especially when it's really very hot. Sometimes, I spend a lot of time inthe mall just to escape the heat and get rid of using my air con because it scares me when I am handed my electricity bill. lol

Air Conditioners, dishwashers, and dryers are the ones that really suck up the energy...

Wow you seem to be having a serious problem, I have an Central Air Conditioner. I also have a fan in my House this fan Im not sure is Energy Star but it helps keep the cool air moving. So you wont feel as hot. So Believe it or not because I bought I have My Air at a higher temperature so the fan helps when its Directly facing you or moving around the room. turn your Air on only when you sleep and keep your Fan on during the day or have it on for a little at night and let your fan Move the cool air around. that can help. I have those floor fans that comes with a remote its long and thin useful though. so yeah if you have a normal fan try facing it to the roof upward because heat rises and cold air falls so. It will cool the hot air then the room will be more cooler as well. Try not to shop that much either if you shop a lot for stuff you dont need then maybe you should be saving that money for future stuff that you really need like to spend your Light Bill :P Well yeah take care I wish you the best of luck Hopefully I was able to help you

yup, air conditioners really do crank up the electric bill. that's why our family home doesn't have one. my parents have thought about it over and over again, especially during the summer months, when the heat is at its peak. but then, my mom always win that it would cost too much. my dad even suggested (years ago when centralized AC isn't in reality yet) that we all just sleep in the largest room so we would all enjoy the AC. i guess my mom's really tight with the budget since up to now, we still don;t have one. but it's alright with me though. sometimes the heat do bother me too, but when i sleep, i always sleep with a blanket, even if it's really hot. so having no AC really doesn't bother me all that much.

I a similar problem but in the winter here. For me is it heating. The only option I have is electric heat. During the winter the nights can dip pretty low and have even woke up to frost on the inside of the windows. When we get those cold snaps, I will usually retreat to the bedroom and heat only that one room.
