What is your favorite beach to relax on and why? I have been to The Outer Banks, Miami, Destin, Galveston, and all the way up the West Coast. I have not yet had the chance to visit international beaches. I am always looking for new places to visit so I would love suggestions and opinions, but I want to know what makes the beach so great! My favorite is Destin. I grew up visiting it every year. It is very laid back and too terribly crowded, I love the sandy white beaches and would love to have a vacation home there some time. What about you?

I don't get to go to beaches often, just a couple of times a year. And, that also sometimes while traveling to countries overseas on my business trips. One of my favorite beaches is Pattaya Beach in Thailand. That's about two hours drive from the capital city Bangkok. I was so impressed with the beauty and grandeur of the beeach the first time I got there. An amazingly beautiful site facing the Gulf of Thailand.

I have heard wonderful things about Thailand but have not had the chance to go. I am sure the beach there is beautiful. Maybe some day I will get to visit it.

Beach on Aruba - I took this picture some years ago, at the beach near the resort where I was staying. I have not seen a more peaceful place.
I have been to many beaches in several countries but as beaches go, I prefer Aruba. There´s the perfect climate, the perfect humidity, no noise, palms sway and at the tiem of the year I usually go it´s not too crowded. I like some of the beaches in Florida too but sometimes they are too crowded.

Pool at La Cabana - There is a beautiful pool, a place nearby to ask for a drink, a jacuzzi outdoors and many other amenities.
I usually go to Aruba in September. I stay a La Cabana Beach & Raquet Club but there are lots of good resorts all over the island. At La Cabana I go to a 1 room, sleep 4, apartment with a full kitchen. That makes it a lot cheaper even though sometimes I eat out. They have special offers of just diners or just lunxhes (there are all sorts of combinatiuons) in a good restaurant that is in the Resort. The beach is a block away.

What time of year do you go to Aruba? Also, do you have a specific resort that you would recommend?

I am from a country that has beaches but the weather is too cold to enjoy them all that much. For example my local beaches are dangerous for swimming due to a strong tide and sinking mud. I think that tropical beaches that I have seen on some of my travels are the sort of beaches I adore. I have traveled to the Seychelles and there I found the best beaches in the world. I like white sandy beaches with palm trees. I have been to the Maldives and that has lovely little palm fringed beaches. I have been to St Lucia in the Caribbean and it has gorgeous beaches. There are so many places on my travel wish for the future. I hope I will be able to go island hopping and snorkeling in the Philippines. I wish to see more beaches in the Caribbean. I hope to visit Mauritius and I am sure it has paradise like palm fringed beaches.

So far, my fave is The Virgin Island in Bohol, Philippines. Its just a small island and no residence. The sands around are white. I've been there once last Feb. and surely i will come back again and again. And there is one beach i really wanted to see, the Camiguin Island. I would like to see for myself the "sinking cemetery" under the sea. Hopefully by next year, we will come over to visit the place.

Destin is the best I found so far. I am from Europe but just stopped there on a trip through Florida and stayed 3 extra days. The sand there is just outstanding. It's on my my list to go back there again. I haven't seen any better beach in the US so far and have been traveling a lot.

Yes the sand in Destin is awesome! How does it compare to beaches in Europe?

You cant compare it. I mean there are nice places in Spain, France and Greece but I've never seen anything like Destin. You should check Asia there are some nice beaches too.

Hi, I seldom been to beach. In my whole life, I only been to beach three times, First was when I was a small kid,I went to beach at my town together with my aunties and cousins. I just could remembered of the white sands and the salty waster smell, nothing much I could recall back. Then my second visit to beach was with my boyfriend during dating time. We have rent a chalet next to the beach and we have a romantic walk along the beach at night time...I missed that moments alot. And my last visit to beach was during my honeymoon, we went to Damai beach ,too bad we did not manage to overnight there. I hope to visit Damai beach again somewhere one day, this time will be together with my lovely son.

My favorite beaches that I have been to are defiantly the gulf coast beaches. I do have one favorite out of the Florida beaches. My favorite beach to just lay on and relax has to be Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota Florida. My grandparents own a condominium down in Siesta Key and my Aunt lives in Sarasota. I have been to Myrtle Beach, the Jersey Shore, Virginia Beach, and plenty of Florida beaches, but Siesta Key Beach ranks number one with me. It is very calm and relaxing. The area has mostly senior citizens, but has a pretty good night life as well. the beaches have beautiful white sand and the ocean is very calm. It is usually pretty quiet as well on the beaches, great for sunbathing and book reading! I also really like the crystal clear water of the Gulf Coast beach. So if you are not offended by old men in speedo's, the Siesta Key is the tranquil beach for you.

My most precious memories are about a totally wild beach with a forest where we used to camp years ago. This was not a camp site and it was not easy to accomodate there. We had to bring drinking water from the village near the forest. We used it only for drinking and cooking and for everything else we used water from the sea. We lived like savages but it was wonderful! We brought our daughter there when she was 10 month old and after this summer she was a healthy baby. But the most important thing were the people which used to go there - we were a small communty of friends and we had a good time.

I have not had the chance yet to make it up to Maine. From what I have seen it is beautiful though. Why is York beach the best?
