Her name is Peaches and Cream

Buttercup and Peaches - My two babies. Buttercup is the Tabby and Peaches is the Calico. Peaches and Cream seems to have helped Buttercup from her depression

So in my discussion last week about the fact that my friend Cornbread had passed away, I mentioned the fact that Buttercup didn't seem to be taking the loss of her friend too well at all. We remedied that situation by visiting the Humane Society here in town and we found a kitten that we all fell in love with. Her given name was Geneva, but we didn't like that so we renamed her Peaches and Cream (Peaches for short). She is a beautiful muted calico and I think she has some siamese as well. So far the two girls are getting along beautifully. They rest together and snuggle and their personalities are very similar. The best thing, though is that they will share the litter box (which Buttercup and Cornbread wouldn't do). So, I've attached a picture of her, what do you all think, isn't she beautiful.

She is beautiful. I do like calicoes, only ones I have had came to me as adults, tho Cookie was only about 10 months. She was Booboo's sister, but while she fit in really well, she was so sweet and pretty she found another home easily. Booboo, on the other hand, bites...

well, he doesn't bite out of meanness, he's more of a love bitter, he starts working with the the front teeth and tries to work the finger into the molars...

Now that does make sense and I think I could handle someone like that. But the bites out of meanness, I just couldn't handle.

I don't think that I would be able to have any kind of pet in my house that bit. That is one thing that I don't deal with too well at all.

How sweet. Both cats are so pretty. Peaches has some very interesting markings. Know you will enjoy them. We had a cat for about 11 years. She actually belonged to one of our daughters but she couldn't take the cat when she moved in with a friend. I was so attached to the cat and she became such a wonderful companion. She and I were best "buds." I was devistated when we had to put her to sleep almost 2 years ago and still think about her often. She was very friendly and greeted everyone who came to the house. Right now we don't have any pets and it seems strange but I need a break. Our dog had to be put to sleep in May and that was tough.

Some of the tv commercials are tempting me. I see dogs that need to be adopted every morning. It's just easier right now to be pet free. I'm not home much and might travel with my husband next summer while he coaches softball. In the past, I had to stay here and take care of the animals since my husband didn't want them in a kennel.

I can see why you feel like you need a break, but I can also see how it would be weird to live a part of your life without a pet in the house as well.

The television commercials do make it virtually impossible to resist. However, I know that for us right now, we have neither the time nor the money that it would take to dedicate to another pet. I love animals and would have an entire house full of them if I could.

It is good that you found a friend for Buttercup. We started out with one dog, but she had puppies, and we ended up keeping two of them. So, they all play around together now. They have a lot of fun together, and it is fun to watch them play. I think they sleep most of the day while we are out working, but they keep things jumping around here once we get home. They are all full-blooded Chihuahuas, so they have A LOT of energy to burn off LOL

I do tend to think that when there is no one home that the animals do sleep a lot. I know that our dogs sleep at night but they do also laze away most of the day. The cats play at night and laze through the day.

AW, how pretty. She looks a bit like a calico we had up for adoption, Izzie, except Izzie had gotten pretty tubby...

Peaches is still very sleek at this point. I definitely don't see her becoming a chubby cat.

Oh my gosh...what a cutie!!! Yes, it is nice when they will share the litter box..just one box to clean up. We have a dog and a cat that are best friends. I always assumed that they wouldn't be, but they are. Of course our cat acts more like a dog anyways...I think she is confused!! Well you have a beautiful new addition to your family.

We also have dogs in our family as well, but the dogs and the cats don't really interact a lot with each other.

Awww.... I'm glad the girls hit it off so well! I've always wanted a calico, tortise shell calico if I get to be picky. I've got one Tabby & 2 black cats all siblings from different litters. It's hard to tell the 2 black ones appart if you don't see Socks' collar on her.

Really, we initially wanted to get a calico, but Cornbread just came into our family and when the neighbors had kittens, Kathryn wanted one of them so bad that we thought it would be quite some time before we would have a calico.

I am lucky that they are getting along so well. At first, I didn't really know if the chemistry was there between the two of them, but it has come together beautifully.

They are so beautiful together. May you enjoy many happy years with them. Have not been on Mylot due to tropical storm plus I have been ill with bronchitis. Literally one of the walking wounded yesterday. More power cuts today at work and I am mylotting to reduce stress for an hour. Blessings

I'm glad that you were able to weather the tropical storm. I've never had to experience going through one of them so I can only imagine how scary it must be to go through.

Lightening Halloween 2009 - Our little bundle of joy and terror.
Dora- They are truly sweeties! I like Peaches colors! She does look like she may have something of a sleek cat in her. I am glad to hear they are getting along and that Buttercup is coming around. I know that our cat Lightening looks for her little friend Sassy (my little chihuahua that passed away four years ago) from time to time. We've thought of getting a new dog or cat to bring into the family but so far there hasn't been one that has stuck out. And we cannot do a high-needs cat at this point in time. I wish you the best with your little friends. Namaste-Anora

I understand what you mean about not being able to deal with a high needs animal at this point in time. I've been there myself, but right now I really had to look out for what was best for my other pet.

Dora, First of all please let me offer my sympathies on the loss of Cornbread. As someone who has also lost a beloved pet I know it is a painful event to deal with. I applaud you for adopting Peaches from The Humane Society and for giving Buttercup a new companion. They are both adorable and I am so glad that you are giving Peaches a forever home. May they both give you many years of joy and love.

I really enjoyed the experience of adopting from the Humane Society. That is definitely something that I will do again in the future.
