Do you always buy what you want?

Hello, I want to buy so many things. I want to buy the house that my neighbors live in. I want to buy a bicycle. I want to buy books every time I see one. But I don't always buy these things. Before spending my money on something, I first think about the worth. I first think whether I can afford it. I quickly survey near future and then make the decision. But all this usually happens at a lightening fast speed. I am not impulsive about buying, are you? Do you always buy what you want, at the moment you want it?

If I am single, I definitely would. But I have my own family to think of already, so my wants need to take a back seat. I usually handle our finances, so I know where our money should go. Before buying things out of our budget, I usually think about it many times. Is it necessary? I am not an impulsive buyer, I can go on a shop that's on Sale, and walk away without buying anything. I think your priorities change when you have a family of your own.

It really depends on several factors, since a want and a need are two different things.I'm also not an impulsive buyer and i'm happy about it, because i don't have any regrets of buying something just because i'm attracted to it at that time. I know all of us have billions of wants, but we also have to be practical and weigh things out first,to better get a better view on things.

actually, I'm including a man who likes to shop. When I want something, as long as I have money, I would immediately buy. Whatever its price, I would pay, whether cash or swipe my credit card. But, for now, because my credit card bills soaring, forced me to stop my desire to shop. I must finish bills, until the minimal limit of my finances

Hi Biswa. Had you asked me that some years back... the answer would have been a definite "YES". I remember waking up a shopkeeper (who used to stay at the shop during nights) at 2:30 am to buy a can of COKE! Yes, I was that way... a spoilt brat...maybe! but that was what I was. However today, I am a changed man. Married, responsible and also suffering. So I cannot afford doing such things at this age but yes, if there is an emergency, I would have no second thoughts but to buy them and I believe only Medicines would be on that list. Now, I think twice before buying the regular necessary items and the luxury or other non-so-essential items are placed on the wishlist for some better days to arrive and then when we can, we will buy them. Have a great time, theSids.

Many of the factors that I think to buy something. Though I really want, if only useful so I better just do not buy it. I tend to buy goods that are useful for the long term.

I would love to buy every single thing that I want. but like you i don't do that. I like you think about first if it's something i really need. Then I have to make sure I am buying that thing because i want it and not because i am upset or unhappy about something else. If and only if I have some extra cash will i treat myself to something. It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while i like to treat myself.

Well, you may be poor, but you're a man with big heart. Besides, poor is a relative term. It always comes out of comparison with someone else.

I dont want my neighbor's house, never did. :) So that one is easy. I am fat and old, so bicycle is out. And I am a lazy bag of bones, so definetly not somebody who reads as much as you do kiddo. :) None of the things you mentioned tempt me. :( Nor would any jewelry. :( I want peace and quiet. I have a clear cut idea of what I want actually. That is why I am not satisfied easily with others things. Not very quick with buying. In fact, there are times when I have walked for over an hour or two to get what I want, and when I didnt, I ended up compromising! So no, you cant say I am impulsive, more like a frustrated buyer who doesnt find exactly what she is looking for.

Actually, i only buy what i need, biswa. I won't buy just because i can. That's stupid, it's a waste, don't you think. IF YOU DON'T NEED IT, DON'T BUY IT. OR. As my mom always say, if you have lived without something for more than a year, you won't ever need it, so you won't have to buy it. TATA.

No; it depends also if I have money or not. But if ever I buy, I make it a point that it's useful and good enough for me. I always advice from my husband or my friends and children.

I used to be an impulsive buyer when I was younger, but I learned my lesson. Before I used to buy things on sale even if I don't really need them, I just wanted to take advantage of the low price though they are not really of high importance. Now before I buy something I think more than twice, make sure that I really need to buy it. What I do is like this: I saw this thing, then I stroll in different stores for an hour or so and if I feel like I really want to buy that something, I go back to the store where I saw that thing and buy it, this way I didn't buy that thing impulsively, I gave myself the time to think.

No. It's not even possible all the time. And I try not to look at things I wasn't planning on buying. So I only think about and look at the things that I've decided that are needed. And that always takes time- it takes time to make a decision for me. So I am not a spontaneous buyer, unless it's something that isn't all that expensive and I can definately afford.

There are a lot of things I would love to buy, but unfortunately I don’t always have them. I used to be an impulsive buyer when I was single, but being married is different. Now we have to buy things which are more important and I am thankful that I am able to do it now. Spending our money wise and not just wasting for something unnecessary.

I am not impulsive about buying too! Generally speaking, when I want to buy something for myself, I will think about if it is necessary or not. If not, I always give up, though I always want to buy many things. After all, earning money is not easy for me. I need to accurate count with my life.

If I have a lot of money, then why not. But since that my money is not enough to buys those fancy things, I'd rather prioritize those very important things that I and my family needed everyday. And also save money for emergency purposes just in case there would be.
