Recipe Exchange...

United States

My family and I seem to be eating the same foods over and over and every night we are all like "What can we have for dinner?" and I am so over it because it seems like such a big deal every night. My husband loves his meats, I am more of a pasta girl, my son is okay with eating pretty much anything but my daughter on the other hand is picky with almost everything so there is always someone that is not happy... I have a ton of recipes but they all seem to be more in the desert category and I would like more ideas for dinner items. I was wondering if anyone would like to be a part of a recipe exchange? I dont have anyone that wants to do it yet but I was thinking that with all the members on here with different cultures and such that maybe we could start a group through here that maybe once a week a member can send out a recipe from their collection to share with the rest of us? Is anyone interested? And/or have any ideas of how to start and go about doing this?

When I first joined myLot we used to post recipes until they started deleting all these types of post and changed the guidelines to read - Don't - #Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion.

No, I know that you can not start a discussion about recipes and such but I was thinking of if there was a recipe exchange that the message could be exchanged within messages either through mylot or email addressed if that member already had your email. I completely understand why mylot does not allow recipes and jokes to be a discussion. Thanks for your response whiteheather

There are lots of recipe exchange groups on Yahoo.. they send out new recipes everyday. Here's one such group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/recipes-exchange/ I'm sure you could find more.. or start your own on Yahoo.

Unfortunately we can't post recipes here. But I can suggest that you make stew as it is one dish that is a favorite in our family.

hi froggielover have you not read the guidelines lately? we are not to make discussions about recipes or jokes or poems so if we respond to you with various recipes we just lose any earnings on that as it will be deleted and mylot admins really does delete these things. I think it is silly but its in the rules so look it up. Its in the guidelines I think butalso in the rules of discussion.[

No, Hatley I know that you can not post or start a discussion about recipes and I think that that rule is a good one because it good go on and on..I was just thinking that if there were other members that wanting to exchange recipes we could do so through emails or mylot messages... I am just hoping that this discussion does not getting deleted for suggesting it. I do read the rules because i want to make sure that the writing work that i or another member puts into mylot does not get deleted. Thanks for your response Hatley

Good idea but I see some problems. First, are we able to put recipes on mylot? I thought that was a no no! Then, the American measuring system is quite alien to us Europeans. And, the names of several items change from country to country. For example, I only found out what zucchini was a few weeks ago from a fellow mylotter. Something cheap here might be incredibly expensive where you live or even not available. Oregano, (that's a spice, not paper folding!) for example, is very cheap here. Also capers - which most of you will never have seen! So problems will occur. Try opening your own web site!

Yes, I think you are right petersum, with posting the recipes but I was not planning on starting a discussion forum for the recipes but instead maybe exchanging email addresses or just sending messages through mylot. Thanks for your response!!!
