Christmas is fast approaching. do you ever like or unlike joining kriskringles among your work mates or classmates? i have some occasions i joined. but for some reasons some time few years ago, i had to exclude myself from that. i didn't like the idea of joining my workmate's kriskringle that time because it was very costly. it's just supposed to be a little something for fun. but they were like earning much money from our works to challenge themselves from spending much. well, i had to be honest to my supervisor. so they just asked me if i could at least join the exchange gift event. that was the only thing i joined. i didn't have to be kill joy as most would say. i just don't find it helping me financially for spending something i don't need and expecting something i won't be happy about because in effect, as if i threw a money and come what may whatever will return to me.

Are you talking about a Christmas Party at work and a Secret Santa? I wouldn't participate in those myself if I had a job, unless it was only a select few coworkers as that way I would know more about my coworkers and know what to get whoever's name I picked out. I think the economy is kind of bad enough as is, and that materialistic things aren't that important.. so I might would just bake something! :)

yeah. i am on a tight budget most of the time. and i just can't tolerate such spending. i would always think about my family before i spend something for myself even. so how could i spend something for someone else for fun?

I would usually do this with friends and if we had to at work, I would. However, although this can be fun it might be a bad idea with the economy as it is. I think that employers and coworkers will understand if you feel that you can't do something like this. I would just explain to my supervisor that I could not afford to spend the extra money at this time and that would have to be the end of it.

we only have one exchange gift at the office. and it's only among our group of friends. so it's kinda hard to exclude myself from that. but it's ok because i actually have fun with it. we always talk about what budget would be affordable with us. we're actually lowering our limit this year because of financial restraint.

When I was perhaps in first grade, I was happy to join in. But after the whole not getting anything fiasco, I have hated it with all my heart. LOL kidding aside, I was never a fan of this shenanigans because I never seem to get what I want. We would have lists and I would specifically put what I want on it (taking into consideration the price) but somehow they would never buy what I listed. To top things off, I was the kid who went home with a kilo of sugar as the exchanged gift. I also got an I.O.U. and a used pencil topper. This is the thing that I dread most in Christmas parties, aside from performing.
