We all belong to one religion or the other. All religions are great in their own way and no religion is inferior to other religions and similarly no religion is superior to others. All of us are pround of the religion to which we belong. As intectuals when we critically examine the religion to which we belong we some times appreciate some aspects in our religion and some short comings.I am a Hindu which is the prominent religion in India. As I see there are many aspects in Hinduism which I like most say freedom of expression and unity in diversity etc.But some aspects hurt me like caste and sect system. Nodoubt they are gradually vanishing in social life but still they play important role in dividng people. The politicians exploint them for their gain and also win elections.I would like to hear about other religions.I earnestly plead that I should not be mistaken for starting this discussion. It is only for my knowledge...

Sorry.I did not say that we all belong to one religion. I said we belong one religion or the other which is clear in my opening sentence. We are born in the religion either the religion followed by father or the relion followed by mother. All religions are great in the sense that they unite people and guide them in one direction. No further meaning or motive need be attached. It is only a discussion not meant either insult any person nor any religion as such..

great, sorry to misinterpret what you are trying to say. yes when we were born religion is already there. the religion that our parents followed is also our religion but there's no religion that can save us. there's no other way but there's is only one way that you can be save.

As part of your knowledge, I'll add that we do not *all* belong to one religion or another. If you grow up in a culture where religion completely dominates life, then that may be the impression you have. But there are people all over the world who have no religion, who don't believe in any god or gods.

As you say that there may be many who neither follow any religion nor believe in God.I have said 'all' only to mention large number of people.Secondly when we see the brighter side of any religion we can notice that it has brought about some discipline in people which is appreciable.Otherwise there would have been a mess in this world..

There are a growing number of people who are leaving religion to become Spiritual. A spiritual person believes in God, and follows His commandments, but does believe in the collection of money and ornate Churches or Synagogues, etc. Religion is becoming known as a Scam that was perpetrated on humanity 2000 years ago for the purpose of collecting money. This explains how the Christian Religion became the most Powerful, Richest Business the world has ever seen.

You have rightly pointed the exploitation some people are making in the name of religion. It is there in every religion. The gullible people believe whatever the socalled leaders say and become prey to them.In this process some become rich and exercise power over them.As you say there is tendency now prevailing in people to become more spititual and less religious. One need not belong to a particular religion to follow spiritual path.
