when you write down a blog for instance, do you start with a title or are u comfortable writing down the story first? I guess for me, I prefer starting with the story first. you know at times when you have this story in your head & you want to jot it down, you start writing then you go on spontaneously and you are more at ease with the writing. I guess writing the content first gives us more freedom to release what's in our head than when you have given yourself a topic. Just thinking :)

I think you a good way to start is writing the title first. Perhaps like a 'raw' title just to have a guideline on where to drive the story. Don't you think its easier to write a topic if you have some sort of keyword to based on? We also consider keywords related to our 'raw' title. Then if the story is finished, you can pick a much more 'polished' title. Though sometimes, the originally conceived title is still the best, well, at least that's what I think most of the time.

I suppose if you are writing a (short) story, it might be better to write the story first then think of a title afterwards. That way you have the whole piece ready before you choose a title that will cover the gist of it. However, there are times when it is necessary to choose a title first before writing out the story. For example, I have encountered those who make blogs that are like novels, each post being a chapter in the story. In that case, the author must have a general idea of how he wants the story to go, and think of a title from there.
