Hello Dear Umadper! First and foremost thing is I should like the question first. If I have the gut feeling that yes I can do justice to the discussion then then I definitely try to attempt the discussion! So first factor is natural inclination towards the topic under discussion. Many a times it depends upon my mood also. Some times I feel like participate in some serious type of discussions, so I search for some serious type of discussion and some times I feel to participate in some light discussion where I can enjoy my participation without using much of my brains. This normally I do after my day's hectic work and when I want to relax here! There are some members on this site who have a fantastic knack of converting a discussion into a humorous conversation ,surprisingly you will find many members are flocking in the conversation at a time thus making it too lively one. If I have time at my disposal I love to participate in one of such conversations! Next thing is that I avoid poll type discussions, where the answer can be yes or No type or could be of one or two liners as these types of discussions are removed by admin. Similarly I take care that i am not rsponding to the discussions which are of repetitive types as these are also likely to be deleted by the admin. Generally the discussions initiated by some experienced members are always safe to attempt as these members know the guide lines and rules and the chances of their discussions being get deleted becomes quite low! So apart from the topic of discussion I look into the above said factors while answering the discussions! Thanks !

Is it something that I am actually interested in? Is it something that I actually know something about or care to learn about? Is it going to be deleted? (Because certain discussions are sure to be deleted.) And will my answer be in whole sentences. (Because a yes/no questions should just generally be ignored.) That is my list of questions to ask before I think about answering to a topic.

I go here, there and everywhere and respond to topics that interest me. I have absolutely no problem responding to anything where I feel I can contribute.

You can to read the rules first. http://www.mylot.com/o/faq.aspx here you can have a clear information about how to do the discussion, how not to do the discussion. And the very fundamental point is, we have to discuss that must be related to the discussion.

Well, first I based it on my experience and what I know about the particular topic,, but if I dont have any idea, theres no reason to respond.

I have several options. One , if it is from my friends here. Two, if it is one of the top discussions, three, if i like the topic. These three things are my basis for responding in any of myLot discussions.

Hello umadper, I usually go to TOP/HOT discussions and see & respond if find some interesting discussion for me.Usually i find many of the intereseted discussion there & if i don't find it there i go to particular interest section & then search for suitable discussion to respond to.Even then if i don't find it then i go to "new user" or "no response" section to help them out. Even then i don't find anything then i go to the profile of a user which i feel is a good user & start searching for the discussion from the catergory of his/her - discussions replied. Beyond this i never felt that i don't have any dicussion to reply i think by doing this i always find plenty of them even i find lesser time to reply to all these discussions.

I do not really choosy. Just point out my views on things that interested me, anyone that needed helps or advises; same as when I needed opinions from the others too.
