Will this old version of barcode sooner or later become obsolete, and it will be replaced by the QR code in the market, and in the supermarket and internet retail stores? This QR code also called "Quick Response" code, and the computer can retrieve handful of information from this code on a certain product. So, it must be useful somehow. I don't see it is widely used yet, but at some purchase through smart phone, such as starbucks, I saw such QR code appear on the smart phone screen, all you need to do just let the scanner scan code on your smart phone. Convenient and useful, isn't it?

That's a good question however I beleve QR codes are quite a bit more complicated than a barcode and cand hold more info. I scan them from magazines with ym smart phone to enter a contest, get a free sample or learn about a new product. I can also generate a QR code for a website and share to a friend to scan as well as creat a Qr code with my info That I could share that aswell.
