Lovebirds are one of the species of birds who are being crazed as pets at homes since they are like small parrots which have also different colors and fun to look at specially when they are together with its partner. Lovebirds somehow should be similar to humans, are monogamy which means they only have one partner in their intire life. If their partner die, they will follow after a couple of days. These birds show somehow a cycle of how do humans love and have family. During courtship, the male lovebird will always follow the spotted female lovebird if their are other males around then they will fight but it doesn't mean the one who won get the girl, he still have to pleased her by giving attention. You can determine male between female lovebirds by looking to their bulky nose hole area. If the color of the nose is dark then its a male and if its white or light it is a female aside from that males are little bigger than female ones. One of the unique characteristic of these birds is that when they find a place to live or to nest the female bird would clean the place from twigs husk and dust free unlike any other birds who take branches, twigs and husk to make a nest. The female stay from its nest when it lay eggs while the male will find a food and feed the female until the eggs hatch. One of the interesting part of having lovebirds is that their hatchlings will have different color from its parents which is amazing looking like a crayon family. Lovebirds are indeed a picture of true love and family.

If you want them to have multiply, you need to make a nest for them. Simply made out of coconut husk. This will what you gonna do. First take a coconut and take out the inner shell and try not to destroy the husk because that what you'll gonna need. Now using metal wire try to rebuild the husky part or the outer shell. You will see there is a whole on the center since you take out the inner part. You don't have to clean it because later on the mother bird will clean it up. Just place it on the cage with the opening facing slightly up for about 45 degrees and that nobody can easily see. Avoid disturbing the mother lovebird untill the egg hatch. Always feed them and give water because the father lovebird will feed the mother bird while she is in the nest. Hope it helps you!

It would be great if people follow them. But not everyone is faithful to only one person. It seems like birds are now better than humans! Thanks for the tips. You seem to know a lot about love birds. Do you have a pair?

Interesting.Hope humans will be monogamous as love birds, which seldom happens. What is the maximum life span of love birds?Maybe if they live longer, they will still look for another partner. Well I always like to watch love birds because of their colorful feathers but I haven't seen it in the wild, mostly in cages.I wish to own a pair of it someday. However, I want them to be free like pigeons.Would it be possible?
