What do you ask from a preacher to trust in him?

Some time ago, in many countries, nobody could question this. Each one had to follow the local preacher, or he/she could have problems due to society impositions... But nowadays, people can freely choose religions in most countries, or even choose not to be religious or practice any religion. That has also a secondary effect: nowadays there are many offers and people tend to follow on preacher or another from one belief or another... If it is your case, what in a preacher can make you trust him and follow him?
