What Motivates You to come Back to Mylot

I have been quite busy for the past few weeks and I have not been participating on mylot. Whenever I get some spare time I find it difficult to use it on mylot. I just do not feel motivated. I hope to resume activities on mylot this week but so far I am not feeling motivated to do that. My question is how do you stay motivated. What is it that brings you back to participate on mylot day after day?

hello 2wicelot, its good to see you back, i had noticed that you hadn't started any discussions recently, which is a shame as your discussions are usually interesting and thoughtful ones. i don't know how someone stays motivated, as it can't be about money, because not much is made. but i find there are quite a lot of people i like, and some discussions can be very interesting, and i do find out a lot of information on different internet sites.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have had some other things taking me away from mylot and I usually end up not having enough energy to devote to mylot. This is really an exciting forum and there are always exciting discussions going on from all the friends we have from all over the world. This I guess should keep us motivated more than just the earnings.

You are right. There are peaks and troughs. I may have got busy at the trough so there was double discouragement
4 Sep 11
i think that there are many things in life that we sometimes need a rest from, although mylot is usually interesting, it does have peaks and troughs, so maybe you were too busy, and at the time not enjoying mylot as much as usual. but i'm only guessing, only you really know.

Doing the same thing all the time leads to boredom. I think there should be a break too.
@2wicelot (2945)
4 Sep 11
Yes that is another way of looking at it. When we do the thing for a long time we need to take a break and do something else. Good idea.

It becomes bored and we do not have interest also towards it,so there should be a change continuously to maintain the interest to do it.

Aside from my friends here, and the interesting discussions that they post, the number beside my user name motivates me to always come back. I am very competitive, and structured, and I like seeing numbers progressing. So, I like seeing my number rating increase! It gives me a sense of accomplishment. That I've participated in a few constructive discussions.

Wow! The number is quite high. I think that is the highest I have seen. Congratulations! I guess that is enough motivation for you to maintain it.

Some people are saying that quality is more important than quantity :) Just look at the people`s profiles .Some of them claim they are here for their friends or for another reason .But every where i look i can see a lot of banners with " The biggest opportunity you can find on internet " .Why don`t they put pictures with their friends on their profiles or links to Wikipedia ? That way we`ll all learn something new. :)

There are also days in which I don't feel like posting on Mylot,but that mod doesn't usually last for a long time,and the next day I'm back in action because I know that I will eventually find interesting discussions that will stimulate my thinking and make ideas come into my brain,and I am also stimulated by the fact that so far Mylot is the site which brought more money online than any other,and that thought alone is enough to bring me back to Mylot almost every day.

I have those days a lot these days. I am usually tired up with other stuff and just don't feel motivated to mylot. Probably when I get more serious I would begin to make some substantial earnings and that would motivated to come back more often.

I enjoy being here and that is what is motivating me to keep coming back. I love writing and I love responding to people. I also find it interesting learning the different ways of how people think. I become surprise on how a simple question end up with dozens of different answers. Of course, earning fast also motivates me to keep owing back. I am thinking that instead of doing nothing, might as well log in, do something I love and earn at the same time.

From the response I have received from our colleagues, it is clear it is the interaction with the people here on mylot that is the main motivation for wanting to come back and participate day after day.

I think I am addicted. I have all my responses and posts of friends sent to my notification at my main inbox. That is where my day begins. All my surveys and all else come there. Then I take a break on Facebook and go from there. It is like my goal each day to go to my inbox and answer whatever is there.

Very easy, I am addicted. LOL. I get my days that I am not motivated, but I always seem to want to be here. I guess part of the motivation is the people and friends I have here. The interesting discussions and of course the money. I can understand becoming unmotivated, I've been there before. I think what will motivate you will be to just log in, read some discussion, respond to a few and the more you do it, the more motivated you will become. Sometimes we have to kick start ourselves.
@2wicelot (2945)

I like the idea of kick starting ourselves. That is an excellent way to keep going on mylot it seems. Only if I will get addicted to it too

I came across mylot when I was searching online. At first, I was attracted by the reward. But later I found I can only make little money. But I am still fond of mylot.When I answer one question, there are a lot of other questions related to it. Those information is sometimes funny,sometimes knowledgeable.I could learn a lot of things.

I think the answer for all of us is that here we can make some money while we are talking and also can find some useful tips from time to time.I don`t believe anyone telling me he is not here for money because there are better places where you can talk for free :)
@2wicelot (2945)
4 Sep 11
You are absolutely right. The number one reason we signed up in the first place is for the money. Then later on we may have made new friends and discovered some new ideas here on mylot. I think I will keep that in mind and hopefully it would increase my motivation.

May i remind you that this is a discussion from the Make extra money topic ? So the one who started the discussion knew why we are here .We are here because someone told us that we can make some money and have some fun,maybe make a couple of friends,find new tips etc. But i don`t think there are too many people here because they want to find out about other cultures or something else .You should join National Geographic or Discovery if you want to find out about other cultures :p

From the responses received it appears that many of us first signed up to earn some money. Then we came to make friends and engaged in a lot of discussions and conversations and we have learnt a lot about so many cultures. Someone commented above that there is no paypal in their country but yet they contribute to the discussions here at mylot. I guess our priorities here at mylot are different for different people and they seem to change over time.

juliuxd don't assume that for me as yes I needed money too but also being retired and in a very tiresome retirement center, I was very lonely and isolated from other countries bu t here with my finges on my keyboard I can learn from allover the world and make friends too so for me its not just the money at all.as for national geographic or discovery that not the same, those are cold and impersonal mayhbe when you get older you will understand more what I am saying but til then do not try to speak for those of us who did want the friendships and the learnings.money is not all there is too life.

The things that motivate me to come back to MyLot, is first to keep in contact with the friends that I have made on the site, second is the interesting discussions that are posted, and third is to make just a little amount of money. I don't log on to the site much, just when I have some extra time and very little to do that day. As for now I have a few small things going on in my days and it is taking up most of my time.

When I first signed up on myLot, it was to earn a bit of money. Now, I am just having fun. Yes, money for anything is good, but it is no longer the main reason. I've taken breaks from myLot before; in fact, I am just back from a long break. I know I would never quit, but taking break sometimes is good for me. What motivates me.....the friends that I made here, some interesting discussions, learning things about other cultures, etc.

I'm not as active in mylot now because of my workload. I've always like coming to mylot because i see my friends in here, and i like to relax. However i made a bad decision in adding some new friends which i regretted it now. He's causing me more stress than relaxation with tons of discussion that i can't keep up. i'm losing motivation upon seeing that. it's either i get rid of him, or i'm out of mylot. I'm tired.
