What your dream when you are a child? Do you give it up?

I still remember the dream when I was a little girl. I wanted to be a scientist. It is a popular dream in that time. And after I have that dream, I try to make it come true. And in some degree I make it. But now, I look back, I doubt about whether it is my dream, for many children have that dream in that time. And at that time, many parents thought that scientist is a great person. MY mom also told that to me, and make me believe that. Maybe it is a dream of my parents' not mine. Now I find that I like making cakes, and I should take being a cake chef as my dream. Some people I am crazy, but I do not think so. But if I give up the career as a scientist, I can do nothing now. Is it a right time to give it up?

i possibly remember when i was child. i dreamed to be a graphic designing , it was a popular dream for me way back when i was a child. so as aiming for that dream i started trying to practice and making it come to reality as my profession. i was very curious and never lazy to create or learn more. and beside that my parents was in support to encourage me with more ideas and motivation since have chosen to be what am going about my career. i was much motivated and seeing others who have gone through that process for guidelines which will actually help me focus well in the next future. so i can not and never give up for this opportunity from my dream.

Really. It is cool. Graphic designing is a great job with specially skills and artistic bent. Hardwork is badly needed for it, and you have to try to improve your ability from day by day works. I think few people can make it, as many children can not stand on the boring practice for such a long time. Maybe interesting is a good teacher that can help you keep the dream and fight for it. Good luck!

I remember before, when I first started schooling, I wanted to be a teacher. Well, a lot of children are dreaming to be like that but later on it change. I have my favorite teacher before and I always wanted to be like her. She's like a mother to me. But later, when I started to grew up and see the real world, I realized that I dont wanted to be a teacher because their life are pitiful. Well, for me they are heroes but their life is unfair specially those public school teacher. I heard that they are working 8 hours a day except the hours they spend in their house making lesson plans and checking school papers. But still their salaries are too small. I realized that I cant be like them who suffers a lot because of their passion of teaching.

Children usually like their teacher very much. When I was young, many girls wanted to choose teacher as their future career. But in the 1990s, teacher became a not popular jobs for the low salary. So actually, many girls gave up their dreams for the cruel of the real world. Now as the teacher can have a good pay, many people choose it as a better choice again. To say the truth, to many people not rich enough, dream is a luxury goods, for you have to give it up for many reasons, for the dream is a thing that you should donate all your things for getting it.

Very good that you are doing well in your career. My dream as a child was to become a musician, play different musical instruments. I guess I was very fascinated by music. When I grew up, I don't eaxactly know why, but I just did not go for music. Things changed, and I went on to entirely dafferent way. It's amazing, isn't it ?

I think I wanted to be a doctor. But, it changed because I realized I was afraid of blood! I have changed my dream, and achieved it. But, I continue to dream things and work at attaining them. Why give up on your dream? There could still be things that can be done. Who knows?

As a dream of being a scientist, I make it. But after being a scientist, I find I do not like it. Maybe what I really like is the process to achieve that, not the results. Maybe it is a time for me to set a new goal, and fight to get it. Thank you for your comment.

hi:) I also dream to be a scientist, then be a doctor, then becomes an actress and a singer, I had so many dreams when I was still a kid, but I end up taking different course now. I still remember me and my cousins were playing make believe, that I am a doctor and they are my patient, just reminiscing all of that makes me smile now... I think in your case if you really want to be a chef so why not? go, if it's what you love to do, I think it's in demand also these days, and you can put up your own coffee shop and you can add your baked cakes. Goodluck friend!

I am glad to hear that you like being a chef. Perhaps you would like to have a look at my cooking blog http://youless.poco.cn/ As to my dream when I was a child, actually it is not a big dream:) I wanted to be the sales person in the department store to sell toys so that I could play the toys all the time. I also wanted to be a staff in the zoo since I liked animals, I liked to take care of them. Now my work has nothing to do with my dreams. I am much more practical when I grow up. I love China

We sometimes dream about some things that we want to have when we grow up but sometimes we have to make certain sacrifices so we aside what we dream about. As we grow older we have different priorities but I do cook as I dream of doing that but I set aside my dream of being a chef because that time I listened to my aunt's advice not to go for it since it was not as in demand as the Nursing course. It is not too late to follow a second dream that I have about finishing a 4 year course and hopefully I will be able to do that by next year.

When I was a child my dream is to become a Doctor. But due to financial dilemma I just couldn't make it. For me don't give up as long as you live there is always a hope. There is no harm in trying. But if your happy of what you are doing now. Just be it and think it was a God's gift to you. Cheer up.!!

As a kid, you always had this great idea and so confident in what you want to be but when you're matured, you realize that your dreams have changed. I've always loved animals and as a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian and I was so confident that I would be. Now, after finding out how much effort you need to put in to actually do the course in uni was a big turn off for me. I knew I couldn't achieve that high and compete with the other smart people. So my dreams have changed and I'm still happy. But some dreams actually do come true for some kids. =)

hai friend in my child-hood i used to dream to become engineer, when ever i saw my teachers i used to dream to become head master to school, when i used to see my favorite sport cricket i used to dream to become cricketer, i can say one thing whatever you want to become that can be happened only in dream, it is a gift to human being, if you work hard for your dream sure you can acheive (your target, goal what ever it is) it in real life.why should we need to give it up, dont give up, enjoy the dream...

When I was a child, I've dreamed about becoming a dentist when I grow up. But now, instead of becoming a dentist I become a nurse. Well, I still belong on the medical field. Somewhat I have reached my dream somehow. Hehehe. Keep dreaming my Friend.

When I was young, I dreamt of being a doctor. I think its a common dream for most people. In my teenage years, I watched alot of cooking shows especially my favourite, Dessert Circus. I begin to grow a slight interest. I told my dad that I wanted to learn about pastry in college but he detest the idea. So I went for biochemical instead, just the way he likes it. Halfway, I quit school cause I have no more interest. After working for a few years with some savings, I entered school again but taking a pastry course. My internship will start this October. =) I belief goals and dreams are set during our teenage years and that it could change according to time and circumstances. If your interest is in being a pastry chef and its going to change your life, made you happy and satisfied, why not? When else can you start working towards your dreams if not today. =)

When I was a little boy, I also had the same dream as you: become a scientist. I remember that many children had the similar dreams, such as national leader, doctor and scientist. In a word, everyone wanted to be a great person and changed our society to make it better. But with the grow of ages, I feel that such ambitions have gradually disappeared from most people. Nowadays I've already graduated from university and have a normal work. My current dream is very simple: wish my families keep healthy and happy every day. It's normal to be a great man, and it's great to be a normal man.

ever since i was a little girl i wanted to be a vet i am 19 years old now and realized and 2 years ago that dream is just out of reach my grades started to slip the only way i made it through my classes in high school was to cheat off other students papers and even doing that my grades wernt that great then when i got in college there was no one for me to cheat off of since most of our work was done outside of the class room and by ourselves so my grades soon became so low they were beyond repair so i dropped out of college i had to change my dreams
