Is Gears of War 3 Much Better Then the Previous 2?

I haven't gotten a chance to play the recently released Gears of War 3. I thought it was going to have it mailed recently from my GameQ list but i didn't have it in at the #1 slot of my list when it was available. What a bummer but its still could of not been sent since its so popular. Anyway, I was a diehard gamer of Gears of War 2. However, I didn't hardly play the first one at all. Many said both were similar in ratings. So are you convinced the 3rd installment is better or much better then the previous versions? If so how?
