I was standing out the front of my office this morning, and an elderly woman using a walking frame came along and told me this funny story. She has maltese dog who is playful. The other day , he got hold of her top dentures and disappeared with them.Neighbours have helped her search her back yard and the inside of her home, but they can't be found. They even looked for freshly dug earth to see if the naughty dog had buried the dentures. I thought this was a funny story to tell, even though it will be inconvenient for the elderly lady. Do you have funny dog stories to tell?

jennybianca, I once had a Pekinese who had a thing with my wife's winter slipper where I believe treated it as her pup. She just wouldn't let us touch it and my wife just had to buy another pair to wear. So much for maternal instincts.

The slipper must have had the soft feeling that the dog could only relate to a puppy, especially if she still had maternal instincts. fFunny though, how they see one object as something quite different. My cat has a catnip toy, and she think it is prey. she catches it and brings it to me in the middle of the night. she also had a piece of elastic that she thought was a snake.

Winter slipper - Does this one looks like a pup to you?
P.S. We still had that slipper.

These days I don't have any dogs, just cats and a box turtle. The turtle lives in a cage and has many small river rocks. I have a pair of "teenage" kittens. One of them has figured out that the rocks he keeps finding, on the floor near the turtle cage stand, come from inside the turtle cage. He loves to skittle these around the floor. He even picks them up in his mouth to take to the kitchen's smooth floor. If he doesn't find any on the floor he pokes one out of the cage to play with. His brother has a different trick. We have a food dispenser that holds about three pounds of kibble. He'll scoop the kibble out of the bowl with his paw. It's like he's trying to find something different farther up the shoot. I'll scoop it up and put it back, then he does it again later. Luckily he eats the kibble off the floor. He also likes to play in my bed pillows, like they're soft caves. He'll dive under them in one place and pop up in another. Their "uncle" likes to push my coasters off the tables. He doesn't play with them or anything, he just pushes them off. I'd say it's to get attention, but he does it when I'm not around too.

I love cat stories. I have two cats that are beyond their teenage years, but they still play. The older one loves her catnip and a piece of elastic. she presents them to me in the middle of the night. I have not heard of box turtles? Many people have pet turtles here, but I think they are the Murray river variety.

That is hilarious. Pets are great for funny stories. About 20 years ago, friends of mine had a dog who ate $30 of theirs which had been sitting on a table. Later they could not find the $30 but saw evidence that the dog had been there so they wondered. They then checked out the dog's droppings over the next few days and sure enough, the money eventually came out! So they picked it out, washed it off and as it was a bit mangled, they took it to the bank and exchanged the money for new notes!

I amazed that their recovery efforts worked! My ex had a dog that ate a sparkler bomb, and had to be rushed to the vet to vomit it up. He was okay.

It was probably hard for the woman not to laugh even though she was in distress. It will probably be even funnier after she finds them!

The elderly woman didn't seem too disrtressed, more annoyed really. I think it gave her something to talk about.

Dogs are quite impulsive creatures who tend to act on the basis of hunger and possession. It is possible that this dog wanted to build a stock full of ornaments or toys that would become its satisfaction. Such stories are really common. Dogs will bite almost any object inside a house, as they use their mouths like we use our hands.

Yes, I know dogs do these sorts of things, and I have sen and heard so many funny stories. The odd thing is, the dentures can't be found. If he/she was building up stock full of toys, surely it could be found. But then, dogs are very clever, sometimes.
