I have been pondering lately how I can increase my revenue as I think I am about to hit some turbulence. I do have a triond account but I have not used it in a while, but to my advantage I have been working as a sideline writer (measly 2.50 an article

I am a freelance novice also. I have published two articles on Triond earning a few pennies. Still, I plan to continue writing for Triond. However, I have had more success with Associated Content which is owned by Yahoo. I have earned a few dollars on this site. I do not know if Associated Content is open to persons who live outside of The United States but you might try. Regarding your own blog. Why can you not do both: write on Triond and blog on your own blog? Is time the problem?

Hey there, I have a question. How did you manage to increase your earnings on Triond? Though I have not posted on Triond, on Helium, I have no earnings at all for the published articles I have. Suggestions/Tips and tricks would be much appreciated. As for my blog, I do relish the idea of running my own blog especially if it does become a hit. I just worry about finding a good topic that people would actually want to read? But meh, THANKS ALOT FOR THE ADVICE!

I only have earned 3 cents on Triond but I also only have two articles on Triond. I do plan to write more in the future. It is real easy to publish on Triond but earnings are low. However, payout is low. They pay after you reach 50 cents. Where have you published? If you are in The United States, I suggest Associated Content.

I use multiple blogs to link to my Triond account and it's boosted my traffic and helped me earn extra money, so it does work to use both of them.

I guess you have a really well established niche then? I mean to be able to create that level of linking, how long did it take you to start earning from your blog?

Thanks for that! I have been notified about this, but as a matter of fact money is money? Who is to stop me from writing on Triond, Helium and Bukisa if i wish right? Besides using Triond to repost already written articles is a good way to make more money from the same amount of effort no? But sadly on Helium my earnings is still $0.0 :( and hopefully it doesn't stay at $0.0 for long

Do both. First you write for Triond and then share your articles on your blog.

I have a vision of writing a blog which records the exploits of a med student, as there are not many out there. That way people (both med and med hopefuls) can see what it is like to be a med student, plus it could potentialy debunk myths as to medschool, what it is and how it is. THanks for the info

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have just now started using Triond and submitted 1 article. I earned 3 cents till now. I hope my earnings would grew faster if I post more number of useful articles. Since I didn't get time to write articles, I am waiting for the right time.

Lucky you, atleast you have earned something! I tried Helium because I heard that the earnings are quite fair, but I seem to not have even earned a cent :( I may have to move again to triond and see if I get any luckier!

I think you can do both and there is no wrong in things you published in triond and again publishing it in your blog.. but you will earn very less with your blog unless it is new articles.

I could probably do two separate articles revolving around the same topics for the blog just so that readers have a fresh new thing to read.

I think you should do both if you really want to earn big. I just joined triond a while a go and I also have my own blog and other online earning sites like here on mylot. You can do whatever you like on the internet as long as you have the time every single day to attend to them. :)

Doing both does sound really good, though my only problem at this point is finding a good niche which is not too hard to penetrate plus easy and loveable to encourage me to stay on. I have a thing with starting things and not seeing them through. So I do hope I can find something that truely interests me that is not overly tough to get into. That leaves stuff like Photography and gaming out sadly :(

Hi Hari, You say that you don't know what to right about in your blog, because "all the good topics are taken by bigger and better players" but I think the reality is that it doesn't matter if it is competition in the niches were you have something to say...make your blog and work at it every day and soon enough with some passion and persistence you will make a place for yourself in the current online marketplace and you will earn nice money. And if this is not a very good idea for you(you don't think you can make it or something with so much competition or "big players" :D) find niches with smaller amount of competition and create blogs, monetize them and then promote them... Have a nice day, Claudiu

Hi Claudiu I have been thinking, but then competing against sites such as IGN, Technobuffalo, and the like is pretty intense. I would much prefer to enter a niche that is smaller, though the revenue may be less. At this point I have been looking into myself (both literally and metaphorically) to try to find something that interests me and interests other people. When I do my health science first year course ( Thats the year before medicine here in New Zealand) I might want to do a blog regarding the road to med school (especially if I get in) but first focusing on how hard it is, and probably give some tips and tricks. If i don't get in il continue the site as a study tips site. If i do get in, I would have to probably change the sites name to The Road To Medicine :) Though I wish I could just say that in the beginning, but I do hope not to jynx my chances. Thanks Hari

Really if you can focus a little bit on both, to see what works better, that really would be best. There are times where some people are a lot better at maintaining their own independent blog and raking in the money in that sense. Then there are other people who are good at writing at a website such as Triond and making a little extra money that way. I think that really my advice would be to do whatever works for you. There are times where writing online can be tricky and a lot of trial and error can really be done before you find a way that works. I think that I would split my efforts between both and what ever makes the best money for you at the moment, I'd focus more on that. Of course, it might take a couple of months before you can make a decision either way.

The real factor which I find that sucks is the time factor, as well as getting people to your site as that involves SEO and etc. I am thinking of writing a blog about my attempt at entering medschool next year and if I do get in it could turn into a surviving medschool 101 blog. Thanks for the advice, I just hope that things go well, and if I do write I can write just for the fun + informing people and hopefully earn a bit of Moolah from that :) Though I think with a blog the best part is the fact that I can ask for donations, and if someone is moved by my exploits, they might actually give me some cash!

Make a blog, you control it, you make more on it, all your posts are published, all the money is yours .

Thanks, I was not 100% sure if Triond allowed you to keep the content of your articles, I know Helium does, but not sure if triond did. But now that, that is clear I can write on Helium, Triond and potentially make my own blog some time soon :D THANKS!

I guess it really depends which one you like using more. Both are good for earning purposes.

I don't know what you mean with sideline writer. About the question, I myself have tried both options. I prefer triond by far, since it gives you instant results. Many times when you try to start a blog you face the problem of what filling it with. I know it's so difficult to succeed on creating interesting content so you can generate decent revenue. Only if you really know what your blog would be about should you try creating one, otherwise Triond is the only answer.

I wish I knew what to tell you. I have been writing on Gather for points, which have now added up to nearly a twenty five dollar cashout. I have been actively writing stories and posts for about five months now. Plus, they have me writing a mental health column every Friday. The more views, the more points, the more money. As far as blogging, you could blog about the difficulties of blogging when one is not doing anything earth shattering.....I do article writing on the side, too, for two to two fifty per - I get prepaid in batches of fifty. The only problem with those is boredom. Twenty articles on plus size women's clothing is challenging. fifty articles on home decorating on a budget and in small space places gets repetitious. But, it's money. I've joined Triond but haven't yet done anything there. I think, with two photos and one post at Redgage I've earned about eight cents. I just started here a week ago and have barely done anything, yet have .17 already, which surprised me. I think a variety is the way to go.

Nice that you are working and having good return through articles and believe me the rates you have said is good enough for anyone..if you can write 5 articles per days it will be good monthly income for spending.I joined triond with a hope to get good return but for some reasons not earned anything till date but I think it is my mistake I have not given good time to the site but even if I would suggest you to have your own blog so you can some more streams of income online.

You can always do both. Since it's your own article, you can publish in your own blog whatever article you submit to Triond. There are also some ideas or discussions that you can only post in your own blog like opinions/reviews among others.

If you think it can help you then go with it, leave your hesitation. When you start early, you can already see the negative and the positive side of it. Both aspects will get you to adjustments that will surely hit refinement of what you are trying to achieve. If we keep on holding back, you are losing the chance of stepping forward tracking success. Start early, time is gold as they say. Be positive, believe in yourself.
