In our country, it is a special feature. We have different kinds of exhibitions where different stalls are put up. There are handloom, handicraft, exhibitions where things are displayed in a regional category .. We have different products from different states ranging from fabrics to artifacts and curios, artificial jewelry, and each is unique in design and style. It is an experience to visit these exhibitions. Children would have plenty of fun areas like giant wheel, torah torah, merry go round etc.., There are Home Needs exhibitions where household gadgets are displayed. Then of course there is my all time favorite -book fair. Then there are different stalls displaying miscellaneous items . It is so common that in our junior classes it is almost a definite essay question asking a child to describe his/her visit to an exhibition. Not only children, adults also like to visit these. However, it is better as an avenue for window shopping than some real planned purchases because one can never be sure of the durability of any product sold here. It is a venue for fun , and ideal during a vacation.. What kind of exhibitions have you seen? Have you bought any product here? Was it good or did you get cheated? Please share your experiences.

I haven’t been for ages but I do enjoy book fairs too, I love anywhere where there are lots of books to looks at and buy! My daughter loves art and craft fairs, she loves them! She can spend hours looking through everything and just as long deciding what to purchase! I love cat shows being the feline lover that I am, luckily my daughter shares that passion too whereas my husband gets totally bored. He’s into tractors and farming equipment of all things, not my passion, that’s for sure!

I have been to several exhibitions and bought things from there. I too had my own exhibition of dry flower arrangements and many bought them. I had learnt somewhere that we should label some as sold even if they are not!

They are permanent more on the lines of Ikebana. Twigs and drift wood is used as the base and flowers like wood roses are used. I had about 200 of them. I tried to upload one here but myLot is having problems at the moment.

This is not the sort of thing that I do very often. When I was a kid growing up in farm country, we had county fairs where people exhibited their garden produce and lifestock and some baked goods. My aunt used to win the prize every year for the quilts she sewed.

I do not remember when was the last time I went for an exhibition. When I was working in Colaba area many years back I would go to exhibitions around that area. But that was a long time ago and I have forgotton which one I may have last gone to. When my kids were small I would take them sometimes but now that they have grown and have their own friend circle they go on their own.

I dont know much about the exhibitions in Chembur but I have heard that there are some very good temples there. And I believe the area is not too congested either.

Exhibitions were not something new ,they were there from quite a long time back. However yearly once there will be an exhibition or for once in two years. However i can say that we can just have a look of the items and the stalls put can not see to purchase as the cost when compared to the regular markets ,the price is high. Some stalls will be placed by the local shops only for just to make their products get awared by the people ,such things we can go for and purchase. Without any care we can not purchase or think of items from an exhibition.

Dear Kalav I love the book exhibitions here as they get me access to so many books from all across the country and I normally go for the Computer Books. My wife loves the clothes and dress materials exhibitions though she rarely gets anything from her from these... It is always me who buys some for her and also one or two for my nephew. The reasons are simple - we dont have access to these varieties that these Exhbitions normally get for us - the ones in the mega showrooms are quite costly and as for a family where the expenses are a little more than normal earnings, it becomes difficult to go with them. The good part I like is that we normally get such Country-wide exhibitions at fixed times every year and so we try to save from what we have for spending on these.

Exhibitions are really good. We get to know and get familiar with stuffs belonging to different regions and cultures. I love them. They remind me of oranges, winter chills and the dust smelling of fairs, food and people. However, having said this, I hardly go to one these days. My mom goes whenever she gets time. She buys lot of stuffs. Her favorite being sarees. No surprise though!

Hi Kala, good discussion! This is festival season and lots of exhibitions are held I think almost in all the major cities across the country. Kala, now this is the age that we feel we have everything in our house and don't require anything..except books, ofcourse, the craving for them will always be there. So I attend book fair most of the time. Thanks and have a great day and wish you and your family a VERY HAPPY DIWALI!

Hi kala, how are you? Yeah i like to go to exhibitions. Here in Hyderabad every Jan 1st they keep big exhibition having many stores from all over the India. I will purchase some of the things which i need for home etc., at the end of the exhibition they sell their products at a cheaper rate want to sell maximum and clear off their stores, so i that time i prefer to purchase articles. And some times in mid of year here and there they going on keeping some small exhibitions with different articles but i just go for time pass with the family just for entertainment sake for the children and have some snacks and come back. Hope you are doing good. Have a wonderful day.
