LOL! So if I ever get a handwritten letter from a Topffer, then I know it must be an imposter as you do not know how to write.

What a lovely letter, Allknowing. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I actually do write letters more often than most it would appear. They are not all letters, although some are, but I write a lot of notes to my little one. She loves getting them, and it makes her feel very special, important and loved. She can't read yet, but I read them to her ... over and over again! It helps her to recognize and identify individual letters. Also, the repetition is helping her to recognize some words as well.

I try to put a couple of them in her scrapbook, so that she will have them as she gets older. She likes looking at them now, though, so she is resistant when I try to suggest putting them in her scrap book. Fortunately, my oldest daughter still has the "love notes" that I wrote to her, so that has helped convince my little one that she should save some of them as well and the rest she can "cherish" and look at now.

In the good old days writing letters by hand that ran into pages was felt to be a natural process and I have a collection of hand written letters that I have kept as mementos. The handwriting speaks volumes of a person.
So you write little notes and read them to your daughter. Perhaps you could keep them and give them to her which she could keep to remind her of your association with her as a child.

Such a delightful gift to the "myLot" world, and a sharing of a lovely part of you! You must have a true flair for creating beautiful things!
I do have a "very special" Step-Mother whom is venturing on 94 years old, whom I share written letters and notes, cards and levity with, on a common basis! As I send little quips/quotes and family momento's..the postage is usually around a $1.00 (Cdn)...a very small price to pay, to keep the love alive!
Thank you for a beautiful start to my day!

I must admit, I truly do enjoy putting pen to paper...and it is truly out of love and respect for her, being 94, I don't think she wants the intrusion of a computer in her world, and I so respect that! There are just some things she wishes not to be challenged with! Once again, thank you for sharing your lovely letter!

When I got down to jotting those few lines I suddenly felt that I was going to wake up many myLotters like me who have not put pen to paper for years. Some have already promised they will. You seem to be an exception perga...as usual. Nothing like writing by hand to 'keep the love alive'

In the olden days we used to go for the best pens that one could find and even take pride in displaying them. I need to look for them now!

I really enjoyed reading it.(^^)
Your questions are all there so in order to answer it we need to read it. What a creative way. Even if my daily life always about computers and typing with computer but I still need pen and papers as I like writing so much. Jot down some notes here and there... But I must admit that I stopped writing letter many years ago. The last letter I wrote if I am not mistaken was a letter for my school friend since she moved out to other place. Till the IT people came up with the social networking we just continue keep in touch with others through it. But honestly I missed write some letters to them. Oh, you bring the memories back~ The sentimental value...(^^)

I am glad I woke you up. If only you know what happiness I got jotting those few lines for you guys. Writing by hand is not just writing - it goes beyond that!

I only write when I have to sign cheques or make shopping lists - nothing beyond that. But now I am determined to go a bit further than that!

I can feel the happiness and I am sure it's as much as what you felt when you were writing down those lines.(^^)
I just stopped writing letters and will not stop them totally. I like to read and because of it I need to write things on papers as well so there is no way I should stop writing at all. Pus even if we write more with computers but we are not always with it all the time and for me the pen and paper is much easier than I need to turn on the laptop and write.(^^)

Thank you for the lovely letter and for taking the time to write to all of us.
I just love receiving letters by mail as I do collect the stamps pasted on the envelope.
The last letter I wrote to a friend in US was a few months back, well actually I sort of typed and printed it and sent it out. The postage doesn't really costs much but the feeling of receiving a snail mail letter is really exciting.

Hi ak!
You have done something unique. .
Have not come across so for this kind of wonderful attempt or post. It was very sweet and appreciable thought on your part to write a letter like it and show it to all of us here.
I tried to analyse your handwriting, as I have some knowledge of graphology.
I found that -
a) you are very mature and sensible
b) you get carried away by your emotions
c) when you like something or some activity, you throw caution to wind.
d) you are a logical person and won't act randomly (most of the times)
f) You are still emotionally attached with your mother
g) Sometimes you are not able to decided whether to move forward or backward?
let me know about my analysis.

Thanks pergammano for your kind words about my interpretation of allknowing's handwriting.
She is creative, I missed this point.
I am not very sure whether she loves perfection ( could not analyse by this sample of her handwriting)

WOW...dpk, I am seriously impressed! And now, I am looking forward to "allknowings" reply...but the one impression I got, was she is extremely creative, with astute attention to detail, and settles for nothing less than perfection!

@dpk - An expert in so many fields? Great!
I can give you good marks for your analysis excepting your observation about decision taking. I am extremely good at this but external circumstances which are beyond my control prompt me to procrastinate. I used to be perfect in the good old days but have realised that not many like to be around those who seek perfection!. Thanks for spending your time over this.
@perga... Thanks. I do have an inclination towards creativity but nowadays I do not go after perfection for the reasons that I have mentioned above! This arrangement that you see here is not perfect!

Hi dear,
Thank you so much for the lovely letter. It is really touching, you spend time for us (writing, that also after a long time) to write a handwritten letter. Recently nobody bother to write a handwritten letter. I think we have lost the habit of writing. Once again special thanks.

What you did here was touching. Actually, it was just last week that I gave three (3) handwritten farewell cards to my friends who left for US. I put it with my remembrance for them and told them that what is really valuable was the card or letter that comes with it.
I too love writing. But it has been a long time since I received a handwritten letter. That was during my high school days and I am now in my early 30's. So that was very, very long time ago.
Have a nice day!

Nice to know that! Thanks for your appreciation. Actually I am a bit impatient and with little patience perhaps I could do a better job. But after all writing depicts ones character I suppose - impatience is my middle name.

I too am supposed to write very neatly allknowing[ we have all been educated by nuns and I owe it to them and an old master who made me write handwritng everyday when I was young]. Till last year I was writing pages and pages of question papers though my Tamil writing was slightly out of touch.I started jotting down recipes in a note book to keep my hand writing in good order. Now I must start doing it all over again. So much for resolutions. Must make time for this too.

Feels good that I have woken up many here to realise that one needs to keep in touch with one's hand writing. I have a better hand than that you see here and this is all because I have not written for eons, excepting writing cheques, shopping and other check lists!
I saw your comments on the photo and thanks for that kala.

I am also impatient kala. I want everything fast and I rush through it. Even while solving maths problems I used to make careless mistakes and lose marks on account of that.

hi all knowing That is a lovely letter. It seems like we all are
losing touch with snail mail and writing real letters to
lovedones and friends. I did send several Christmas Cards out last year and handwrote messages on them.I prefer typing email letters
as my handwriting is horrible, no practice any more for one
thing.

The last letter I wrote to someone was to my grandmother about 6 years ago now. We loved to write back and forth to one another and to be honest, before I reunited with her I had forgotten hoe wonderful it was to have someone to write too and look forward to getting something in the mail. I think the postage was .35 at the time. It was worth a million dollars though.

Yes. Jen indeed worth a million dollars. I am so glad that I did not destroy some hand written letters I received from my near and dear ones which I sometimes go through which bring back memories. With this letter I have written to you guys I hope to make a beginning and perhaps attempt to write again.
Why did you stop writing to your grandmother?

Wow you have a really nice handwriting
And to be honest I love writing letters and hmm the last letter I wrote to was probably a friend. The thing is, we write each other letters when we are bored and just exchange them even though we meet everyday LOL I love writing letters and receiving them too. I think they are so much better than emails though emails do have their own perks.

Hi,
It is very beautiful handwritten letter. Your handwriting is also very nice. Now a days no one is willing to write a letter in own handwriting. We all dpend upon soft copies of the letters. Handwritten letter has personal touch and it is different feeling of writing and reading it. Thank you for reminding me my past years. Before having phone we used to write a letter to relatives, friends.

If we give up hand writing then we will have problem writing.
