Comparison: Original 'Let The Right One In' With The Re-Make 'Let Me In'

Last October, I've seen the film 'Let The Right One In' in the original Swedish and the re-make 'Let Me in' (2010) versions. Although, my husband would disagree with me, telling me that the original is always the best, I still think that 'Let Me In' re-make is better. Let Me In / Let the Right One In is a vampire movie about a friendship between a mortal boy and a vampire trapped in a girl's body. I like the re-make because I think it is more exciting and has a fulfilling ending than the original. The original was somewhat silent and boring at least for me. But, this is just my opinion. Anyway, considering the ways of the vampires (Bram Stoker's), they can be indeed silent killers. What do you think?

I haven't seen the original but I've seen Let Me In. I didn't know it was a remake. I've heard of the movie Let the Right One In but since it's in a foreign language, I didn't watch it. I like the movie. But it's a little confusing. Who's the hero in this movie? Is it the girl? the boy? In most vampire movies (except for Twilight, of course), the vampire always have to be slain. But in this movie, the bad guy got away with it.

So you don't consider the vampire girl a villain? She kills people. She killed the nice man who tried to help her in the tunnel and she turned her neighbor into a vampire. She also killed the detective who's done nothing wrong except his job. Doesn't that make her the villain too and she got away with it? And she made her previous guardian kill to get blood for her thirst. I definitely would consider her the villain and she should be punished for what she'd done but she got away with it only to kill again. Would you want someone like that living next door to you knowing that she might kill you?

It's actually a survival thing. Both the boy and the girl (vampire) are sort of the heroes in the story. Both of them just found the need for one another - the boy for someone who would appreciate and protect him, the vampire girl for companionship. You should watch it again :)

I prefer the original, I think it has a lot more atmosphere. but it's a very good remake. in fact, I think it's so similar to the original, I'm not sure why they made it. I don't really see a point in remaking something unless you're going to bring something new to it, and I feel like it was pretty much shot for shot copy.

There are some changes, the scenes at the pool for one thing. The original is a bit quiet, the re-make is quite noisy. And I don't know... I like it that way. But, you know? What I like about the original are the really creepy shots, like the scene when the man is going under the bridge. That one is really classy, the black and white creepy effect :)

I was surprised how similar some of the locations were. some bits looked like they could have been filmed in the same spot, even though they weren't. have you read the book? there's a lot of backstory that isn't even touched on in either of the films, and something that is truly truly horriffic that was only in the book.

Wow, It has a book? I bet it is more interesting than the film. I'll look it up, thank you.

I have seen the swedish version a few years ago, I have heard of the remake and i love the girl they picked for the lead role- many reviews says she acted well. i have not seen the movie though- still going to download it.. I like the swedish though, but it was a bit slow at some point...

i got mixed feeling.. i love the original.. and i love Chloe moretz too in the hollywood remake.. both is basically the same story.. so both gotta be good..but .yes..the original is mm..more original.. unknown actors..simple set up..it has that originality feeling in it..but for those who never known about the original version..will still think the US version is good movie.. alas..i believe both are equally good.

My husband told me that if the original is not good, people may not consider doing a re-make. So, maybe I agree with you. Both are equally good.
