I am a middle-aged woman, Baptist by Faith, and I believe that when I die I will go to Heaven. However, if going to Heaven means I'll be reunited with my parents and other family members, I don't want to go! The idea of spending Eternity with them is more than I can stand, but I don't want to go to Hell either! Any Thoughts?

You are not going to heaven to reunite with your family you will go there to be together with your God since He is the most important person in your life .

My Dear Friend! You are so right! I am not going to heaven, nor would I want to go. And while we are on the topic, could you please explain how God came to be the most important "Person" in my life?

Oh that`s simple "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." If you can`t do it , you won`t go to heaven --- problem solved .

well well barehugs....please excuse what I am about to say. But thats just a terrible statement to make about your family. Now I know you are gonna say "I don't know how they are or what they have done" and you are absolutely correct,,,But you stated you are a baptist faith and thay mean you are a christian, Now I am not trying to preach to you really I am not,,,but as a christian I would think that you would believe that everything would be so much better in heaven..you sound a little pessimistial, good luck and between now and the day you pass hopeful you come to some cordial reasoning with your parents and family...and it they are that bad...you need to pray for them....good luck

If you had done your homework, and read some of the earlier responses, it would have become obvious that this is an excerpt from a newspaper. It was copied here for your pleasure and enjoyment, so that you could respond to the simplistic humor of the piece. This lady is undoubtedly a good Christian, but her complete lack of common sense is guaranteed to tickle your funny-bone!

Oh dear, that is so sad, the only thing I can say is maybe when you go to heaven your whole way of thinking about things will change, maybe, with forgiveness, compassion and again innosence of mind, I think maybe our way of thinking and feeling will be completely different, maybe something we would not understand as we are today.

Well, as for the sad part, I can't cry for laughing! But yes if I was to go to Heaven, my whole way of thinking would Have to change. Innocence of mind is one thing, but Intelligence of Mind is something we should all be striving for!

Hi barehugs, I think that this is priceless but I'm sure that it's like that for many people if they were truthful. Imagine that your in-laws are going to be there too! Well so much for peace and quiet. Someone once remarked of a Pastor's wife, who also taught Sunday school: "Mark my word,if that woman gets to heaven, the good lord will have to change his ways or move out". Since you don't want to go to hell either, why not ask for subsidized housing somewhere else, maybe on the moon-but than in another couple of generations your descendants may will be living there. What to do? What to do? Blessings.

I'm pleased that we both found this piece entertaining. It would have been sacrilegious to leave it languishing in a newspaper. A little fun in the right place is seldom maligned. My take on the in-laws, if you can't love them, the least you can do is try to understand where they are coming from!

You mean that there will be hell in heaven??? You are going to shake all the religions up with that one. Seriously, you have nothing to worry about. We will all know God's Unconditional Love that heals all hurt. You will need nothing more. You will be conplete. You will see where you are and where you need to be. Being with God, you will reach a point when your heart is so filled with unconditional love that nothing else matters. In time, it will be time to go back to school. You will realize you have much more to learn. After all,the things and people who make you unhappy, you choose that they make you unhappy. There is much more to learn and Understand. It doesn't matter what everyone else does. It's what you do that counts. Why do you allow others to determine your happiness when it should be You that chooses this? In the meantime, relax, be who you must, and trust me it will all work out.

Yes I'm quite sure Heaven would be Hell! Imagine sitting at the feet of God for Eternity. (I'd be tired of it after 15 minutes) If God has unconditional Love, why does He allow Hell to exist? Indeed if he had unconditional Love, He would forgive us our sins even before they were committed, and all this controversy would be water under the bridge!

Well thanks for that! I now know what was fundamentally missing in my concept of religion. Both options would actually be hell in one way or another. I think a lot of people now need a complete re-think!

I am with you on the Hell in Heaven idea! Imagine walking on those Hot Golden Paving stones with bare feet. That would be Hell in Heaven without a doubt!

First, many people who claim they are going to heaven or not. Jesus said "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?", indicating that many say they are followers, but really are not. Are you and your family really followers? Do you know Him personally? As you know, every relationship in this life is marred by sin. We're all sinful evil creatures. But Heaven won't be like that. Sin will be defeated and eliminated. People won't have the selfishness, and pride that ruins our connections to family, friends, neighbors, brother and sister. We will all be free of this. There are Christians I know, that I know they are Christians, but I can't stand being around them. We're different. We just don't get along, and there's no real explanation. But I don't fear spending eternity with them, because there will be no sin in Heaven. Me and them, both will not have this curse of sin hounding us. I'll be more able to deal with them, and they will be more able to deal with me, and both of us won't be captive to our pride, and ego, and self importance. It will be wonderful in Heaven. I personally can't want. If Jesus isn't who he said he is, and Heaven is what he claims it will be... then what good is this life?

That would be a frightening thought too if it were my case. But I think that Heaven is whatever we make of it. And I'm thinking that it could be all that, but edit the bad times with family members. Then it could only be all good memories that we can relive over and over again.

You are so Right! Heaven is where, and how we make it, and there is much to be said of "Heaven on Earth." Best to get along with everyone, and hold no grudges. No one knows when we will no longer have that option!

Why don't you like to be reunited with your family in Heaven? Do you think people go to Heaven if there is hatred inside there hearts? Well, I don't know what the problem is but I can sense that you hate them. I hope before things become late, you will resolve everything with your family and have peace among yourselves. God bless and nice weekend to you!

I am sorry not to seem out of order I think this funny and laughing at the thought of it. In seriousness though I think there is side to this that is as uplifting as it is I am sure you are already aware. When we can truly forgive and to be in the presence of something greater than ourselves, we will surely laugh, sigh and see all these problems as a past forgotten. Though for the sake of jolly I can see heavens having a humour side too. I may put that in the suggestion box for you...barehugs would like...

I am so glad that someone other than myself was able to see the humor of this piece. Its very hard to believe that there are people alive in this modern day and age who are this simplistic. However it takes all kinds to make a world, and some of us are able to enjoy their lives and stories! Thanks again for your fun and laughter!
