Hello MYLOTTERS, I already told on one of the discussion that there are lot of mouse and rats in my locality as i live in a place which is now a commercial place so rats here are quiet normal to be found. Around 5 days back my wife said my store room is smelling as if a rat has died there i said OK and we both searched for almost an hour but could not found it.After 2 days passed she said still she feels rat is there again we start searching and this time we found the body of a rat stuck in the grill of cooler(fan side). We both were surprised and became sad how painfully this rat would have died.It would have tried hard to come out of this grill but could not and died.I took out the body of this rat with the stick as i found it difficult & dirty to take out its body and threw it in the garbage. It was really horrible. I just want to ask you all have you ever been in such situation ever.

So what happened to all the cats? They decide to migrate elsewhere?

poor thing. that does sound like a horrible way to die. we did have some kind of animal die in the gaps between the floorboards above and the ceiling below. and it did smell very very bad for a while.

well by nature rats are very clean animals. it's only because of easy food supplies that they move into dirty areas, as there is usually a glut of food.

Hello Galena, Yes it smells very bad its better to clean all the hidden place frequently to keep the rats away from home because i have noticed that these rats dwell in uncleaned places.

Aw - I can understand how it feels. My father is great at accumulating junk. He doesnt throw anything away - empty carton, used up books, and even flyers that are printed on both sides! Very hard to talk to him. So invariably, rats do turn up. Another reason they are comfortable coming is because of these television cables. These cables have made it easy for them to jump across. But I have not seen a rat in my house for quite sometime now. I did, however, call those pest control folks. They gave us a few pads with glue on them. I put them in garage, and we did capture a few of them. I believe the reason we are not having any rats may be because people downstairs have taken some measures to control rats, and consequently, we have benefitted. I have to admit I cant stand termites, rates, snakes, lizards, cockroaches..

This is what's called animal cruelty. You're a rat murderer. No, I have not come across such situation, at least not in my home cause they don't usually come up to apartments. The best you can do is to have a cat in the house. I'm sure the rats would not dare come near your house then.

Great, try to get a stray cat to your home. It would be a great help to keep those rats out of your house. I love cats, more than dogs.

Cat's are not much trouble to have as a pet. They don't bother you much except when they are hungry. I'm sure you're not going to let your cat run around the streets with all the dogs around.

Don't know if they are as i have never kept cats as pet. Long time back we had a stray cat and we used to serve her milk so she used to stay in our house and keeping those rats outside.

hello sjvg even though i don;t have many rats in my house but still once in a while, we do land up in such trouble when our store room starts stinking and later on we find a similar situation as like yours. it feels really bad to see half rotten bodies of the rodent and they might spread infection too. best way to avoid this situation is regular cleaning as rodent try to hide in places that are left untouched.

Hello Khare, After long time seeing you.Hope you are well may be busy with patients. Thats right we should clean our store rooms/hiding places of rats on regular basis so that we may not land up in the similar situation.

not rat house, but mouse house! I went on holiday in the summer and came back to mice. I noticed when opening the cupboard under the sink that the bag of cat biscuits had a hole in the bottom and biscuits had leaked out and horror of horrors, little black bits, which i know from previous experience in working in warehouses are known as mouse poo!! I wont tell you the whole sorry saga, but I was very squeamish about finding little squashed mice in traps. I had visions of their pathetic little shiny eyes looking at me in the morning when i went to check the traps. Unfortunately my cat killed one mouse and the other i caught in what i thought mistakenly was a humane trap, wrong!!!it did the dirty deed and i felt very badly about it. But while they had the run of my house, it was like something out a comedy file. they had nerves of steel those mice. They peeped out from behind the fireplace, brazen as anything, they sped inbetween the bottom of the freezer and the cooker, and one horrible day i found mice poo in the cooker in all my cooking pans!! They were scrubbed believe me, but my husband still cant believe they could get in the oven. And like yourself with your rat getting stuck, I had visions every time of turning the oven on and cooking some unfortunate mouse. so lots of sympathy from me. I am just hoping that like you I do not find a mouse stuck somewhere........

hi sjvg I think maybe you may have seen my discussion earlier. we stillhave the damnable rat problem here. Now the orking people have] put three or four sticky traps in our closet. It is not getting through to the orkin man that the rat is too smart for his damned sticky traps. Why not a real inexpensive rat trap with bait that will get the dirty vermin rat and hold it I am sick of this whole thing as its not healthy to have this dirty rat running all over our room.. this is maddening and I would think that after all this time with the traps that dso not work, they would try a different type of trap. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Not like this anyway. I had a rat in my house twice and I had to chase it out. I killed only once. Another instance when a rat gave birth to a litter of 4 juniors under my washing machine. It was a cute scene to see them, but ultimately I had to scoop them and throw them away. It was a little hard to do,emotional- actually. Happy Xmas. Happy Mylotting! Regards, Ajith.

Hello ebook_freak, Oh only twice if i start running behind them i don't know how many times i will have to run. Oh that really tragic but i know you did not have any option except to throw them out.

Hi sjvg: Even if I find rats disgusting you are right and it was a terrible ending for that poor animal. Once my dog ate a rat but it was too fast and we were looking at that animal so I don't feel that bad. ALVARO

Hi sjvg Hire a Cat, use rat posion, buy a rat trap. All of these. If you miss out any one of these... you have seen the results Seriously - use Mortein Rat Kill. The rats if they will eat this poison, will respectfully go out of the house and die. That is what that advert of their says. For me, I have been in a messier situation - not because of any rats but because of that darn eagle... 3 days and I am not allowed to go out of this door and tomorrow I have to get the stitches out of my head... No more of rats please

HI Sid, My Sister(who also lives in Delhi) tried the rat trap and the funniest part was the rat snatched its food and fled, leaving the trap to close without rat. LOL. No friend, not necessarily the rat will die out of the house, if the rat is smart, it will drink water and again trouble our friend Sj. I have heard this but never tried /tested. Take care..
