Would you do the Polar Bear Dip?

I'm reading in the paper that some people jumped into a freezing cold lake on New Years Day. In most cases, it raises money for charities. I was thinking about it, there is no way in the world that I would do something like that. When you see the people do it, they look like they're in pain. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/01/01/polar-bear-dips.html I will give to charities in other ways. BRRRR.

I'm sure they are in pain but I cannot bring myself to feel sorry for them. Stupidity is it's own reward.

I wouldn't say they are stupid, I kind of admire them for being so daring.

If there is a chance i could do something like this, maybe i would. besides i could just shout over the top of my lungs with the cold... as i always do when the water is cold early in the morning during bath. hehe but if it is for a charity, i might try it.. =) its going to be great to do something new everytime... =)

I have always wanted to try this, even though I hate cold. I see it on the TV. But think I would only do it for charity. I hear it' supposed to be a good thing for your circulation. I say thins even though I hit hate cold.

Well seeing we've had a warm January here I think if someone is advantagious enough to want to do it this year is the year to do it! I myself will not jeopardize my health to do such a thing. I'd rather watch than participate in that one.

I don't think that I could do that either. Its crazy, but I commend the people that do go out and do that. I am with you on this one, I think that I would donate to charity in some other way and not be a popcicle lol.

I would if I could LOL so far I only donate items to charity, maybe someday I can do something physically challenging like that it's challenging for me as I can't stand cold without layers of coats let alone naked

I wouldn't do it even when I lived in Vancouver! And believe me, English Bay is a lot warmer than Lake Ontario.

No...I am cold in the first place and I would probably get sick if I did....I know they did two of them in the cities this year and I watch the people come out and they are freezing....I would rather raise money for a charity in another way.

Oh no...I am not one to do the "polar bear dip." I bet they are in pain...cold is no fun. If I did something like that, I would never be warm again..lol.

You know, if I was able to do something like this for a charity that I really care about, then it would be something that I would be willing to do. The reason that I wouldn't have a problem with it at all is because of the fact that when I was a child my siblings and myself would actually put on our bathing suits and go outside in the snow and make snow angels wearing nothing but a bathing suit. I know that it sounds strange, but cold isn't something that bothers me too terribly much.

Bless those people. Really they are made of a long stronger concentration then I am going to be. Actually it might not have been as bad as it could be this year around these parts. However, still it is really not something that I would really want to do for various reasons, that really do have nothing to do with the temperature. There are things that people throw in the lake around here...that well I'm not going to swim around in it. Still more people to these people for really doing this. There are just going to be a lot of people who are going to swim around right in the murk and muck and everything and then if it is frozen murk and muck, it is more insane. Not something that I would do, then again, there are a lot of crazy things that other people do, that I would not do. Then again, there are a lot of crazy things that I might do that other people would not. Fair is fair after all.

I wouldn't do it too, we can get sick doing that. And I agree with you if we really wanna give something to the charity we can hand it to them personally and send some money or things.
