Ignorant rude people

I am at the library trying to work on my laptop when this ignorant jerk sits down next to me talking very loud on his cell phone for 10 minutes before the security guard show up and tells him to go to another area to talk on his phone. He hangs up then starts harassing me. I get security and he gets up to leave. There are places you can talk on your phone. Sitting at the tables by the computers is not one of them If you are told to get off your phone, do not harass anyone when your the one breaking rules in the library bothering others by talking very loud.

Very true. People like that are really rude and ignorant. They do not know what a library is for. It is a good thing that the security called his attention to this. He did not know his manners. I hate people like that.

This does not, obviously. He was talking on his cell phone for 10 minutes before the security guard showed up. The guy then attacks me verbally, I call for the security guard again and he gets up and moves knowing he was wrong for even opening his mouth and talking on his phone for so long being disrespectful and ignorant to everyone else!

hi desertrose, I am totally in agrement with you...Don't it annoy you to no end when "jerks" talks so loud on their cell phones. I can't even imagin being a the library and involved with a knuckhead like that...What on earth took the security guard so long to get to him???? But I think some people on cellphones are ignorant and disrespectful.. I have even seen business men on the phone on the train talking about their business like they were having a team meeting on the train car... Its terrible and they just don't seem to get it...I can be on the phone in church if I have to...the person would never know I am on the unless they saw my hand at my ear... Who want's to hear everyone conversation, and most of the time its either a boring conversation, a loud conversation, or in another language, other than english ..

It is sad that people act in this way. I have it happen to me all the time although I just get up and move my seat will letting them know I am a bit annoyed. You just can't let it get to you. Some people just love to annoy other people or they just weren't rasied to respect other people.

Some people just think the rules do not apply to them. Although the other day at the library I was working with a friend, so we were in the section where you are allowed to talk. The man across from us was on his phone and we could hear everything he was saying, even though he wasn't being particularly loud, it's just that the library's a quiet space, even a soft voice carries. It was really hard not to just sit and listen to his very interesting conversation.

RUDE! Was this person trying to catch your attention? But rather it sounds that this person is just not trained with manners. Sometimes, when I can't take it anymore, I usually try to talk to people and try to understand why they are like that. Like being rude in talking at a place that is obvious for them to be a restricted area in observing silence. Keep your cool! Hope you're feeling better now. (^_^)

try to ignore those people who seat next to you. Every person has its own instinct. when someone tries to bother you.Its up to us if we response calmly with posture or fight back. Its a test of disciplining yourself when it comes to the situation you encounter.

When it comes to mobile phones people just don't care about other people, everyone knows in a library prople should be quiet but then what can you expect, people have been told hoe dangerous it is to talk on the phone while driving but they don't care.

I agree with you, that is very rude indeed. Especially in a library! Everyone nows that when you go to a library you should always be quite because people go there specifically to study, to be able to have some peace and quite so that they can get some homeowork or whatever else they have to do. You did the right thing by calling security on him especially because he was harrassing you. The nerve of some people! I don't really go to the library that much because I have a computer at home and if I need to study I just do it at home but people need to learn to have respect for places like these that are designed to be quiet.

hik desertrose oh my yes I used to work in our local libray and there were always a few like that. I was often sent to try and make these jerks lower their voices, turn off cell phones and not disturb other patrons, In our library people were not allowed to talk on cell phones in the library proper. they could go outside in the atrium where they would not bother other people but not where people were on computers or working on papers or reading.

That is very rude and everyone knows they should not talk loud in a library. There are people studying and reading. Some people only care about themselves! They never think of others.

While that was more rant than discussion, I agree. There are way to many of those types of people in the world. And every libary I've been to wouldn't allow you to have cell phones at all. But, your library has a security gaurd? That's awesome in some ways, but makes me sad that they're necessary in (what used to be) quiet and calm places.

Alot of obnoxious characters like to invade my space. This guy is a dime a dozen. One time I had disenfectant on my when I stopped by the library after visiting my workout club. This lady with a foreign accent was sick and coughed in my direction. Her computer was right next to mine. I pulled out my disenfectant and sprayed my disenfectant can towards her and told her to stay home if she is sick. She seemed shocked, could barely speak English, and mumbled a few unclear words. Noone else said anything to me. I put my spray can and I headed home lol..
