I will be leaving soon to head to the doctors for the results of my HIDA scan. The test itself hurt so badly. I have been in constant pain now for eight days. The doctor has me on a special diet of plain bread, rice, applesauce, tea, toast and Gatorade. I have to take phenergan to even be able to keep these foods down. If I eat anything else, the cramping gets worse. It makes me feel out of breath. I am on tramadol for the pain but I am still in pain. The tramadol is just making it tolerable for me. I am a little worried about maybe having to have surgery because I have been getting iron treatments for severe anemia. I have had four of five scheduled treatments. The pain goes from the gallbladder area clear through to my back. The ultrasound that I had done did not show any stones, but doctors suspect that my gallbladder is not working right. I have had flu-like symptoms for eight days now.

So since the ultrasound did not detect stones they did the HIDA test? I hope that this will have the answers you need to help you get beyond this painful situation.

The HIDA scan said my gallbladder is barely working. The bile is just sitting in it, so I have to have it removed. I go on the sixteenth for a consultation with a general surgeon. Until then I am on a bland diet of bread, rice, applesauce, tea and Gatorade. The pain and nausea meds will help keep the pain manageable till then hopefully.

Linda, I know many people who have had gall bladder surgery, and it seems to help a lot. I hope that you will be okay until you get this dealt with, so that your body is up and working well again.

So sorry to hear what you're going thru. I went thru sort of the same thing and I had my gallbladder removed. I'm still having issues and I had that removed in september. Best of luck to you and hope everything turns out for the best.
