Is there anyone out there who enjoys cooking with sourdough? I have found sourdough cooking quite challenging, but well worth the effort. The sourdough starter is made without adding yeast. The air is filled with wild yeast bacteria which when included in your starter, will cause the bread to rise and give it a flavor you won't believe. Tomorrow I'll make sourdough Biscuits, or Pinch-Offs as they were called by the old cowboy cooks. These biscuits are mixed the night before, as the sourdough needs time to raise the dough, and to give time to flavor the biscuits. Then in the morning more flour is added, along with buttermilk, salt and a pinch of baking powder. The dough is gently kneaded to 1/2 inch thickness, and the biscuits pinched off. After cooking for 25 minutes these sourdough biscuits will melt in your mouth!

First of all I have to ask, is that you in your profile pic? That does sound really good. I have made regular yeast dough and I have also made whole wheat dough but I have never made sourdough. Do you have a recipe that you can share with us. I would love to give it a try, yeast can be a bit of a pain, and I never seem to have any when I get in the mood to make bread so I would love to have your recipe.

My profile is myself doing a Sitting Forward Bend. This is an advanced Yoga pose which takes a few years to perfect. Try it, you'll like it! Most recipe books have a page in the bread section on sourdough baking. The starter is made without any store-bought yeast. The yeast in the homemade starter is from the air which surrounds us all the time. This starter is tricky in that it must be used at least once a week or it will go bad. Thanks for your interest!(I will do a post about sourdough baking, Look under cooking)

Thank you. Kudos to you for reaching that pose. I used to be a dancer so I would do that all the time as part of my warm up routine. I still do dance workouts several times a week and I am still pretty flexible, I also make sure to do some Yoga at least once a week. I need to do it more often though.

I love sourdough but I have never attempted to make it myself. I just buy my sourdough bread at the grocery store or bakery. I just heat it up in the oven when I get home and am ready to serve it with dinner. How did your biscuits turn out? They sound delicious as anything! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!
