i was talking to a friend today and he was telling me he read in the paper that it was just descovered that 1 ct scan is worse for your body then smoking a pack a day for 19 years. it makes you think twice about getting a ct scan. i think next time my doctor starts telling me how bad smoking is for my health i may just turn around and tell her that if shes really worried about my health she will stop ordering ct scans for me lol. have you heard about this? what do you think?

It is nonsense to compare the two. Although both have certain health hazards, the cause and effect are completely different. If you were to compare radiation, how many years of using a mobile phone to a CT scan, that might make a little more sense - but just a little! I'm sure someone will be stupid enough to do that soon. Things people will do to get a Ph.D!

Well, when my baby (she was then about 9 or 10 months) had an accident hitting her head flat on the floor we hurriedly brought her to the doctor and I was expecting and even insisted to have my baby undergo head X-ray or CT scan but the pedia refused and told me there is nothing to worry, and it would be more risky for her to have an X-Ray or CT scan.. I believe radiation is more fatal than smoking..just imagine the range of radiation than of a smoke not to mention that radiation can pass through normal walls and enclosures.
