Had A Good Night...

We had a good night with our kids tonight. We had a lot of laughs and the kids had fun too. We have no money and no vehicle at the moment and the kids wanted something to do. We played Hide and Seek with them for over an hour in the house. We all had a blast. My husband and I had such a good time probably more than our kids because our parents never did anything like that with us. We were so glad we did that with our kids, break the trend. Do you play fun games like that with your kiddos sometimes? Did your parents play the same games with you when you were a kid?

Hello LovingMyBabies Wow, you did have a great time with your family!! Among my greatest memories are those that involve my Father playing hide and seek with us, as well as other similar games. He would also wrestle with us (my two brothers and I) and we thought this was great fun, although it also involved a lot of tickling. I have played in the same way with my children and have had the most fun doing this. We especially have enjoyed playing Hide and Seek in the twilight hours, as well as playing Preacher from the Black Lagoon in the pool. Peace

Yes we did! =) I had so much fun. And it made me sad that I never had a parent do things like that with me. But I am glad I am breaking that trend and hopefully my children will play with their kids as well since they have us doing it with them. My parents always made us play together and they were always too tired to play with us. I hope our children will have great memories of us playing with them for years to come like you have with your father!

I am sure that they will, and I am so glad that both you and your husband play with your children. I have no memories of my mother playing with me as a child. Nor did my previous spouse play with our children.

I think it is really sad when parents do not take a little bit of time to make their children feel special or happy. It was not hard playing with them and it was so much fun, definitely worth it! =)

Yeah it was fun and the kids had so much fun! =) It was not boring for us at all. My husband and I would find them and then they would find us. It was super fun! I wish my husband and I could afford to do more with them like take them to the beach or on a vacation but we don't have the money or a car. =( They deserve more, they are really good kids. I will pray for you that you will get more time with your children!

We always had a game night, each week. According to the schedules, it was not always the same day. We would order pizza and play games for hours. My grandma played games with me more than my parents.

Yes sometimes my parent's played fun games with us such as cards or monopoly etc, my mother usually would be the first to play a game with my sisters and I when we were little Though I must say that my parent's didn't play with us as often as they must have liked to due to the fact that we were living on the road a lot my parents being musician's they were pretty busy trying to juggle career goals, and kids. so my childhood was a bit different then most, but yeah we still had fun sometimes Well it's nice to read that you had a good evening with your family.

It sounds like fun to me actually. Different but exciting! =) I don't really have too many good childhood memories which makes me sad. But I am trying to give our children good memories so they don't feel the way I do. Well I would have understood if my parents were really busy like yours were. My father stayed home and my mother was off work every weekend. They could have taken one day with us to play games. Their excuse was always they were too tired. I don't want to be like them! We did have so much fun. It was a good night. =)

I never played any games with my parents growing up. At least from what I can remember. I pretty much played with myself and with my younger brother. When my oldest nephews were little and I babysat them I played alot with them! Like board games, rode bikes, sledding in the winter and other stuff like that! I hope I have the chance to do that with my great nephews and great neice.

My parents never played with me at all. They told us to play together with my siblings. It is sad that some parents don't play with their kids. It makes kids so happy! I am glad when you watched your nephews you played with them. All kids need that. =)

No my parents never did those things when I was a kid. But we had fun as kids anyway. I did that with my kids as well, they used to love getting tickled and play fighting and all. Now they are getting bigger so they are into bigger things now. Like my son want to restore an old bike I had from the 70's. It's a cool thing for him. My daughter is way into the internet and TV. And she love to play house more in a grown up way. SHe is seven now.

She will grow out of the Barbie stage. My daughter still plays with them also. My son is older and extremely smart for his little age. I am amazed. I don't remember being that smart when I was eleven. But I guess because of all the technology we have today, information is at their finger tips, unlike when I was growing up. But I am proud of both my children and I am sure you are proud of yours as well. They are the best thing in the world.

Yeah I know the feeling. =( That's awesome that you play with your kids though. That is so awesome, a father/son project! Sounds like fun. =) Yeah my daughter is almost 7, I can't believe it! She is still on the younger side of things though because she has younger siblings and cousins. She is SUPER smart for her age but she still likes to play with barbies and things...

when our kids were younger, we used to play a lot of board games with them as i did with my parents (i used to get a new game every year). now they are older and the favourite is Apples to Apples (which i bought at a thrift store). we came home on Boxing day evening (the day after Christmas and a holiday here in Canada) to find out that we had no power. we played Apples to Apples by candle light and flashlight and had a lot of fun. we do have a car but no money as well. fortunately, we are about 10 minutes by car to a beach (our city is on a Great Lake) and we can go for a walk along the beach which is free (except for gas) and fun. the kids and hubby love to skip stones in the water.

That is cool that your playing with them like your parents did with you. =) That does sound like tons of fun! I used to love when the lights went out when I was a kid because then my parents would pay attention to us and not be able to watch tv for once! Lol. That's nice that your so close to the beach. It at least gives all of you something to do. =)

Togetherness - Togetherness means happiness
You are one big happy family. There is no treasure that could equal to our children. They are one big bundle of joy. I also do enjoy moments with my little ones. Yes I do play with them too. I think the best part of the day is the time before going to sleep when all is already at home and you have only each other to spend moment with. We do share stories after eating or sometimes we play and laugh together. We don't turn on the TV during that time because that distracts us from enjoying our togetherness.

Not in the house, but more outside. Once in a while, I bring the kids to a local soccer field. We would bring a ball and kick it around. We wouldn't have any rules or formal game, we just have fun kicking it and then chasing after it. It's a very inexpensive way to have fun. And even sneak a little bit of exercise for myself!

That's really cool! I'm glad you enjoyed it too and actually re-lived your childhood days. ^__^ Me and my son always do that during vacation. I always take him to the province, because that's where my parents live. Although my husband could be there with us since his work is here at the city, he usually tries to visit us there during saturday and sunday whenever he has no work. SInce there's no other kids at our place there, I always end up playing with him. We usually climb trees, play tag, bike around the field etc. I enjoy my time there too, I think of it as an exercise , although sometimes it's really hard to keep up with my son's hyper-ness. ^___^

It was fun! I am glad we played with them because my parents never played with me as a child. I wish we could go on vacation, your lucky. We will probably never get to go on a vacation, ever. We never have money and we have no car... It sounds like you have tons of fun with your son too! That is awesome. We all had a blast last night. =)

My parents loved to play cards or board games or dominoes so they taught us how to play, it was fun.

I don't have any kids myself. But I would play with them more than my parents. We never played with my parents. It was we had our siblings and shoved out the door for hours and the doors were locked.

Yeah, my parents did the same thing. Shoved us out the door and told us to go play together. That is why we make sure to play with our kids, because we never had that ourselves...

hi lovingmybabies! that does sound like a lot of fun...i know it feels awkward when you don't have money to go out, etc, but those kinds of memories are what your kids are going to remember...i remember our dad playing softball with us in the park a lot, and taking us for walks...my mom was also an artist and she would let us paint a lot ...she had long strips of paper she put on the walls so we could make murals in the house...i used to play a lot of board games with my son, he like monopoly jr. and apples to apples...it is also fun to play i spy with your kids in the car or restaurants...my son is grown now, and your post has made me miss playing games with him...(oh, yeah, i just remembered, he liked the old maid and go fish cards too!) i am glad you and your husband are playing with your children even though your parents didn't ...it really helps your attachment and memories!

It was fun! It is really hard not being able to take them places, I know they would love the beach or a vacation. We have no money to spare though and no vehicle. =( It makes it tough. That is awesome that your parents did things with you, I wish mine did with me but I am so glad that my husband and I both love doing things with our kids. Even if it is just at home. When we had a car we did play I spy, the kiddos loved it! Yeah my husband and I remember how it felt to always be told go play with your sisters and brothers were too tired. We just could not do that to our kids. I am so glad we are on the same page with that and we both truly enjoy playing with the kids!

I don't remember having played games with my parents before as they were usually busy and we were many so usually it would be just us siblings playing with each other. I don;t have kids yet but I do believe and intend to do the same with my kids as you have done, play games with them. Spend quality time, enjoying it.
