watching our local superhero on tv : darna

what do you think of our local superhero. i am not actually fond of our local superhero. but now i am just amused watching it. there are so many actor who had played the role of darna. the one i am watching on studio 23 is portrayed by Nannette Medved. i don't see nannette medved anymore on tv. i wonder what happened to her. i know that she is not that young any more. anyway, being a darna, she has to swallow the magical stone every time there is danger and need to save someone. then she has to shout her name loud "Darna". so she can transform into darna. without the stone she would be powerless and will just remain as ordinary person.

Darna has gone a long way, from Vilma Santos up to the time of Angel Locsin. I think there are others who played the part like nanette medved but I my opinion there's nothing more fitting to the role like Angel Locsin. For me she's the sexiest darna I've ever seen.

i can't say who is the best actor for that role. but i am bias because i like angel personally as an actor even when she played other roles. so i dn't wan to comment about that. but comparing how darna was made before, i would say that darna in gma 7 was better. considering how moview were made before specially darna. you can see v the character was like cut off picture flying across the sky. it was funy to see the old movies. but the 1990 was big improvement but still not that good. although Angel locsin darna was not that hollywood like, but still it is good enough for me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to compare each actor's acting prowess. I'm referring to the physical aspect alone. Personally, i find the swallowing of the stone funny, although the costumes and effects are a great improvement, the story line is for me targeted more on the younger audience.

@ybong007 The stone swallowing started with Vilma Santos. In the comics and older Darna movies, Narda swallowed the stone only once and she never ejected it from her body. Also in the comics, Narda is a little girl.

well yes.. Darna is the most famous and perhaps the oldest super heroine here in the philippines. She is known since i wad a kid and watched numerous movie adaptations. The thing is she was not well built to back up her story unlike the superheroes of Us in marvel or Dc comics. I think our country needs t be able to produce a good story line for her and continuiosly improve her story and adventures.

I am from the Philippines too! What channel is darna? Is it on FOX PINOY? hahaha. I like watching teleseryes in ABS-CBN. The story line is just so dramatic. And dont forget, PBB! :)
