Having our Profile Page Erased made me rethink some things. One mylotter

told me she copied her banner codes and it was easy for her to redo the profile page. When there is one big sortie, it's very easy to copy/paste. But... I like using separate sorties. So, instead of 12 banners I now have 6 and that's my lesson for today. Just not going to spend any more valuable time on it. What lesson did you learn during the big Mylot Crash?

Oh, no! I spent so much time working on the coding for my profile page here, too! I think I have a backup on one of my USB flash drives but I don't even know where that might be right now... and I added quite a few things in the last few weeks and didn't think about making a new back up! I guess I learned two lessons: 1. Make a new back up whenever I change something in my profile; and 2. Keep track of the back ups I've made so I can fix things quickly whenever something like this happens again!

Well said and now there is just one question. So when do you plan on redoing your profile page? Hopefully this wont happen again but I too have learned to make a backup of all my html codes. Gonna do this today too Thanks for sharing your lessons.

Also Time is the key word here I was trying to relay in my discussion. I still see a lot of empty profiles which makes me believe we are not the only ones who are wrestling with this profile issue. Time is valuable and if it were that easy as others are relaying, then everyone would find the time to redo their profile pages right? Zip and it would just reappear.

Your topic has me confused. Maybe in your part of the world you have to pay for each page of Word or notepad that you use? Ihave four sorties on my page and make a seperate copy/paste for each one and then number them. Then I put them all in a folder. No extra work surely?

That's my point, you have 4 sorties. I have one sortie for each banner. The more banners I use, the more sorties and codes to copy/paste. Guess I could copy all the codes in one place but I just copy them from the actual referral website. As the other mylotter told me, she has one big sortie with all kinds of banners and links in it. Easy job!

The HTML code for 1 banner is the same amount regardless of whether you place it an individual sortie or in one along with all of the others, making the amount of text to copy/paste the same. It is easy job either way as far as I can understand surely?

Yes I realize this but we are talking about quantity and time. See below for better explanation.

I learned that I am very glad that I know how to contact some of my friends outside of myLot, because if myLot didn't come back up, then I would not want to lose contact with them. I am also glad that I have friends that can contact the ones I cannot contact myself outside of myLot, so we would still be able to maintain contact and make sure that everyone is alright.

Thanks for the meaningful post and that is a good lesson. For a minute, I thought this discussion turning into a lesson on html coding. Yes, mylot cannot be our only world especially since now we know they are not perfect.

LOL! Nope, no "how to" lessons in this box. I have had problems in the past where I could not access the Internet due to issues with my computer. My computer crashed, and I could not get the parts to fix it nor could I get a new one. I really did not have any other means to access the Internet. I tried to use it at the library, but I had to wait in line for so long that I finally gave up before I even came close to getting a turn at the computer. Fortunately, there is at least one friend that has my phone number, so we can stay in contact, even if I can't get on the Internet ... and she can contact a lot of other people, so I am not entirely out of touch.
