Let's get practical my friends. In our place (country) which belongs to one of the third world countries some of us can't afford to go along the latest trends on men and ladies' apparel. That's why surplus clothing business is really good business here. Majority of us adapted already this lifestyle - shopping at surplus store. This happens mostly on paydays and holidays. The most are clothes, bags, shoes and more. These items came from different countries. Do you have this kind of business in your place? Mobhomeir here 071312 0845hrs

Hi daddy mob! Oh yes! haha I am one of those who are fond of buying those surplus items. It saves me a lot of money and I was able to get some stuffs of great quality at really low cost! Its more fun doing the shopping with friends. I think its a good business these days. But I think we just need a lot of patience in choosing the things to buy and to get the good stuffs!

I love surplus shopping. There are so many cool things you can find there. But sometimes, I wonder if what they actually sell is real. Because the prices are so cheap in the surplus shop. In my country, surplus shops carry brands that have over runs. These brands are normally expensive. So I an shocked that the surplus stores are selling it for a cheap price. I go shopping there because I usually find really cook dresses and the like. happy mylotting.

Surplus items are most likely branded and original but you must have to clean and wash it thoroughly if it is going to be a clothes. But there are also scam on this business. Some of the items were came from lawless people selling it to the surplus store from where they get the items illegally...thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 071512 1540hrs

Well I love the thrift stores here I will not pay even $20 for a dress unless it is for something special but I rarely wear dresses anyway. I like to be comfortable I do not like to dress up at all only sometimes, we have plenty of thrift stores here and I love them all. I can not stand the mall either so overpriced!

I'm not shy and instead i'm proud to say that i do.I choose to buy surplus things because it's expensive and quality wise also.Their items are mostly branded which really durable compared to new things but emit in the streets.Good if you can afford branded clothes original in the mall. Some of the items i love to shop are bags, dress and shoes. Every salary day, instead of going to mall i go directly to some bazaare which has new arrivals. The designs of their clothes are not common and still it is in,i mean included in the fashion nowadays....

I live in Puerto Rico and have for the past two years. I have not come across any of thoses type of shops here. I know they have them in the United States where I'm originally from. I have to say I have only gone into a Army supply type store but that was years ago. I don't even remember what I was looking for at the time.

Yes. We also have surplus stores in my country. Actually I love to shop at surplus stores because the merchandise they sell are really cheap. I can indulge in my shopaholic tendencies without breaking the bank. I can buy two or three pieces of clothes in surplus stores as compared to only one piece of clothes in a regular branded store. Sometimes though, I also go shop at my favorite branded stores. It is just all a matter of balance.

dear Martin, Oh yes I do. My kids loves to shop shoes, bags and caps. Some stores sell brand new items higher than any other surplus stores but still cheaper compared from malls- not even with the branded items huh. Actually, I am now use to buying other items from "Japan Home and Dollar store" Good day my amigo

Since we are here in the same ountry, I can say that it is a good business here in our place too. I, myself admit that we look for some clothes there too. There are sometimes we can see sometimes we don't because there times that items have high prices almost the same when you buy new and locally produced clothes.

Even living in a first world country, I have to be careful with my budget. We have second hand shops, and surplus stores. I shop them pretty regularly, especially since I have a small child who out grows clothing (or tears a hole in the knee) every few months. I cannot justify buying everything new for her.

Yes, there are such shops in my country but they are commonly called "secondhand" shops. Items in there are mostly clothes and fashion accessories but there are also electronic appliances, hand phones and computer accessories. It is good that any unwanted items can be resold and put to good use again instead of lying around gathering dust. People who are financially constrained could get something useful in those shops at half or more of the original price. But they have to make sure that the item is still in good condition and in good working order.

The thrift shops! They call it in my country, UK shop. Well, I won't mind really just I can't stay longer inside the store because there's a certain smell I can't tolerate and it causes me migraine. But, if you ask me, I'd go for those. Your post is timely as one of my friends just bragged about getting about ten items for $7. And, they're really good finds. But, the trick is you'd really have to be patient in boxing out with other shoppers to get the best ones. Otherwise, you'll be left with leftovers. ^_^

They have outlet malls here I guess in a way they are like surplus stores. But they are usually not that much cheaper than if you go to the regular store. Really the only way to get a good deal is to firstly know your prices, know what you want to pay for something and either look on a clearance rack, thrift store, or go to rummage sales.

Yes we have stores like this in the USA. Atleast if I am understanding you right. I myself have had hand me downs ever since I was little. Of course I do more of my own shopping now, but even then a lot of times I go to a second hand shop. I don't worry about fashion so much as I do comfort.

In Hungary, we have these second-hand stores, too (if what surplus means... I tried to look it up on the internet, and I figure it means, that, never heard that word before... but mylot is great for learning new things, too :D). In my country, or I in fact could buy some stuff in the retail stores, but I'd rather buy more clothes in second-hand stores. I'm not phobiac of these clothes, some of them look great, and I'm sure I'm not going to see the same exact top on other people, which is a good feeling... people dressing from the trendy stores... there was a coat I saw every single day last winter :D. I'd hate to see people wearing the same stuff :D.
