When did your toddler stop napping?

My toddler is turning two years old in a month and I have noticed he has a tendency to refusing napping for the last month. He used to be such a good napper, he would go down on his napping chair, fell asleep by listening to the classical music. But these days, I would have to make him lay down on his napping chair and rock him to sleep with the music, sometimes he even gets up and plays... When he naps, it will be easier for me later the day, otherwise, he gets tired and starts acting up, refusing to eat, throw tantrums and stuff...

My oldest daughter napped until she was 3 years old, now she is 6. My middle and youngest still nap at times and they are 3 & 4. I think it all depends on the child. My oldest did not need naps once she turned 3, she wasn't cranky and she was an easy child all together. My younger two need more sleep and do get cranky without their naps. They look for their naps. There would be no choice if my children took a nap or not. If they needed a nap they will be getting one. It will make them happier and me happier. Lol.

My toddler stopped napping regularly when she was 3 years old. She is more active and wants to play more during the day. However, she gets enough 8-10 hours of sleep at night. When she's too tired, though, she takes a 2-3 hour nap at late afternoon.

I think without the nap, my toddler sleeps better at night but also he gets cranky in the evening

i think it depends on the child. both my daughters napped until they were 4. i guess i was lucky that way. but i think your child is about the age when most stop napping. you can still have a quiet time. give him books to 'read' and music to listen to. tell him that even if he doesn't nap, he still needs some time to just relax and chill for an hour or so every afternoon.

Mine is 2 1/2 and still naps most of the time. He gets really cranky if he misses it but sometimes he sure fights or we are somewhere and it is not possible. I try to keep him on a regular schedule and that includes a nap. Everyone day is more pleasant when he has nap.- especially mine!

In my case, I forced my child to stop napping at the age of 4. Since she has a case of ADHD (attention deficit hyperacitivity disorder), i need to wear her out through the day so she won't have uninterrupted sleep during the night.

maybe she doesn't need one so she can get worn out until bed time then she can sleep better!

My three yr old still naps for half an hour everyday but I think that ends around the age of four or five. But I don't usually follow that rule. If my kids feel tired they can take a nap however my 1st grader doesn't take naps during the day but I remember when she would come home last yr from school she would take a nap right after school. Some kids I know of take longer naps and their parents wounder y their kid stays up all night. Y? Because they're not tired! Allow ur kid to rest at one or two o'clock but not like late evening bcuz that'll mess up their patern. I'm no expert but I have been around kids and caring for them since I was three or four. Happy mylotting!!!

Hi, napping were necessarily in toddler cause they were too active in playing and want to explore with the other kids. they might have tantrums etc. but as parents must control their tantrums as parents will control by their tantrums or else they will get your attention from with and make all time they need to do it. Just like timeout with them 3 mins facing the wall would be long for them.
