In front of people, an enraged friend shouted at you, "You're not your father's daughter!". What best to do?

Surely that incident is well past the time I would be responding to you. Would like to know how best you tackled it, as suggesting anything at this point will not help you.

Well, if that is your decision. it is yours and yours alone. You've the right to remain silent. Thanks for responding.

Smile and ignore. Smile, because that person will be confused why you smiled. Ignore, cause, it doesn't matter what others say, you know the truth, that your are your father's daughter. if anyone ask you why you smiled, just reply, "if anyone says that I'm not my father's daughter, will that change the fact???"

I am not 100% sure about what you are trying to say here, but I will try to help as much as I can. I would have asked the enraged friend this "What are you saying, what do you mean by that?", then I would have waited for the response. I hope this was for help for you, if not I apoligize.

You've got it right. The enraged friend shouted in a fit of anger over misunderstanding, trying to inform people around that subject is a product of someone else.
