I have been away from mylot for some time. When I came back, I was checking out my photos and found my little Diego when he was a pup. That was 5 years ago. He's been through a lot in those years and lately has been been have seizures. His vet thinks it is epilepsy and he takes medication for them. He has improved, but still has them. I feel so sorry for him while he is having one, but all we can do is try to comfort him and keep him from swallowing his tongue. I fear each time that he won't make it through, and he does seem to be changing a little bit each time. But we love him and will do what we can for him. I will post a current pic soon.

Awww... I hope he makes it and be better soon. I know that he could have some years still left with him. It's so heartbreaking to see a beloved pet go. But, I pray that he will make it. He has good people with him, and that gives him comfort and a fighting chance.

Oh, epilepsy is such a terrible disease! He needs you to be there for him all the time. I would be devastated to know he had a seizure while he was alone. I wish they found the cure for epilepsy. It is too mean for dogs and for people, too.

You are right that he needs someone there when he has a seizure. It is hard to watch him when he has one and we are worried that he won't come out of some of them. He has such violent ones. He seems to be getting a lot more "needy" as time goes by also. I think he is afraid that we won't be there for one. Hmmmm, makes me wonder if we did miss once or twice. He is rarely alone as there is generally someone home at all times. Thank you for your concerns. Perhaps someday they will find that cure.

I feel for you. I love my pets like family. They are my children. My cat currently is suffering from a skin disorder. My last cat had hyperthyroidism and then kidney failure and we had to put her down at 16 years old. I had a dog who's stomach tore and she passed at only 4 years old. It pains me everytime any of my babies get sick. I always fear the worse. I hate watching them suffer. I pray your Diego gets better!

Thank you so much for your post. I, too, have lost many pets. Some have just passed on their own, others, we have had to make the decision to stop their suffering. It is certainly one of the hardest choices to make in life.
