Obama increases foreign aid 80% while veterans go without health benefits

I was just running through some news sites on the web and noticed these stories posted on Drudge, one right after the other: 'Hundreds of thousands' of Iraq, Afganistan vets still waiting for health benefits... Obama Increased Foreign Aid 80%... 2 US Border agents shot, 1 killed in Arizona... These headlines are a sorry commentary on America today. It's a place where our veterans are going without necessary medical treatment, are going jobless, homeless and are pretty much forgotten. But at the same time, Obama is sending more and more money overseas - like the 1.5 Billion he promised the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, where our Embassy was attacked and our flag burnt. While we are sending our boys overseas to fight enemies far away and sending money to other nations, most of whom don't even like us, let alone appreciate our generosity. And while Obama expresses his sorrow at not passing immigration reform (amnesty), our border is being violated daily by drug cartels armed by our very own Department of Justice. I don't remember there ever being a time as dark as this since the days of the Vietnam War.

I do not think Obama with be happy until he brings our country to it's knees......we will all be praying to Allah and living under Sharia law. I think Obama is planning on spreading Islam ....and earning his 17 or 72 virgins in his afterlife.

I think the movie excuse for the attacks in Egypt and Libya is a double-edged sword. It was used to cover their negligence in protecting the US missions in both countries and it could be used to bolster support for a gag on anti-islam speech. I am very glad that it didn't work so far as either.

You could give that money to the VA and it wouldn't help. The problem isn't 100% a lack of funds. The VA - actually the military as a whole - was not set up to handle the number of troops that were allowed to build up. The VA was already barely hanging on prior to this 'war', now they are not only dealing with recent Vets but now Vets from prior engagements can also claim benefits under the new set of illnesses that are allowed. Of you have a basic need, health care through the VA isn't a problem. Getting help with a specific need that - mainly mental illness (which the military and the VA can not handle at all) - is the problem. VA monetary benefits are slow. If people do not start the process prior to leaving the service, they can be left hanging. There is a new program that has been put in place that has people who are getting medically separated to file for their VA and military benefits many months prior to leaving service so that shortly after leaving they will have their VA, military and Social Security benefits in hand (social security can start prior to leaving the military).. Funding isn't the problem, the system is a problem. People who leave the military without a job do get unemployment for at least a year - even if they are in school. I believe now they can get up to 2 years. We have been in these dark days long before Obama took office. A lot of military problems did not come into light until he got into office though.

I don't see it as denying benefits at all. The VA is a poorly run machine. Throwing more money at it isn't going to fix the problem. Should that money be going other places, yes. Pay the troops better, give active duty personnel actual insurance - the freedom to not get stuck with crappy military Dr's. IMO once you serve you should get Tricare for life - not service from the VA. There are much better ways to handle this issue.

You talk about reforming the system, but this discussion is more about priorities. You can reform a system you have no interest in. This administration is not interested in our veterans.

It's not really about taking money from one place and putting it another, it's about priorities. If our veterans are not our priority, then we have no right to ask them to make the sacrifices that they do. They live on subsistence wages while in the military and then when they're done, we throw them away. If you can't see the problem with sending money to our enemies while denying benefits to our troops and our veterans, then I don't know what else to say.

That's if they have even opened their eyes. So many have eyes closed with their hands over their ears. They don't want to see or hear.

Priorities in government. hahaha Cut defense, medicare/social security going bankrupt, no money for vets, here is the problem http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?a=Files.Serve&File_id=b69a6ebd-7ebe-41b7-bb03-c25a5e194365 The government as a rule seem to feel the need to waste money, waste time, waste resources. This is what they do. And do it well. I would truly love to see this whole book go away because there just isn't anymore waste. I would love to see somebody go to Washington to get my money back.

Did you see his 2007 campaign speech clip tonight? He hates white America. It's obvious in his speech. More lies, telling a black audience that the federal gov. doesn't care about them cause of Katrina. When HE KNEW Bush sent more to New Orleans than to NY after 9/11 and canceled the required state matching funds for LA.

..the media in their 'scrupulous' vetting of Mr Obama, candidate for U.S. president at the time, revealed details about only a part of the speech, and completely ignored (swept under the rug) the more inflammatory parts!

I have since found out that Obama himself voted to make New Orleans PAY the matching funds...and still TOLD A BOLD FACE LIE.

If he's reelected, get ready for even darker times, and don't be surprised if he tries to do away with the 22 Amendment.
