We face variety of stressors everyday in our life. At times, stressors are external while most of it are internal. In my opinion, external stressors are avoidable and perhaps manageable but what makes it a "stressor" is how we cope with them...Just like in a situation when we are in rush yet we are caught with heavy traffic... or like when you are on a long line of people in order to pay bills and you have waited for hours for your turn to come but when its your turn and your at the counter already there will be a brown out and right before your eyes you will read "please come back tomorrow because system is offline". Can you afford you smile after such event? i have read thst the secret of life is to think positive because thoughts will become things....but sometimes i lost my temper when caught in this situation and ruin my day... i know patience is a virtue but certain times we think we are press against the wall and this become the so called stress. how do you cope stress or convert stress into a positive one in situation like this.

stress is a horrible feeling i work very long hours and have recently worked about 30 days with about two days off in the middle in addition to this i do some work at home online to earn a little extra. At the end of the month i have hardly had a break and was extremely stressed, i didnt really notice but i was short tempered and snapping at everyone which is a classic sign of stress. So i have started to relax by going back to the gym, watching Tv and generally switching off and relaxing.

Thanks olliekobra1 for your sharing. Just thinking how workaholic you are is stressful enough. I am glad you were able to get away with the impending threat of stress that is sometimes destructive to our health.

Yeah at times stress can drive me crazy. We do have to learn successful ways to deal with the stress. For me it depends on what is stressing me. Right now it is needing to find more work so to deal with that I apply for different jobs and do things online to earn extra income. So it's being active in dealing with the stress. A lot of the time we can't control certain things so we have to work with what we have. Being positive is definitely a good thing for us to try and work at.

Yeah I agree with you. It is a good thing for us to be able to make productive use of our stress in the best way. After all it is energy and needs to be used. I know that when I'm upset or mad I'm able to clean the house pretty fast. I wish I had energy like that all the time to be able to fly through the chores.

Hi Dominique, Thanks for the input. Diversion is a very good stress free medicine. Convert mood swings into a product and or constructive manner. Its hard at start but we will get use to it then later on.

Hello Grace, Stress these days is quite a normal thing but to relieve stress is not an easy thing. Meditation I feel is the best way to get rid of stress. I normally play with my kids or go for a brisk walk alone to release stress.Method may be anything to release it is more important otherwise it may effect health if it remains with us for long time.

Hello sjvg1976, thank you so much for the sharing, much appreciated. Stress and problems are already part of life. For without problems or stressors around us, life could be boring i guess. No challenges. And maybe stressors are there around us in order for us to grow more mature and learn to value life. have a good day.

Hi! I usually fight stress with light activities, take a breather. Sometimes, things has its way to choking you with stress. One simple trick to not to be stress is to don't think about what's stressing you. The more you think about it, the more you'll be stressed out. Take a breather, watch movies which are light. Not heavy drama or too many action scenes, this type of movies, when I'm stressed, makes me more stress, probably because of the heavy emotions and the visuals. I usually watch comedy or light romance or rom-com movies. Or if watching movies don't pick up my mood, I just simply sleep. It always works for me. :)

Well, whenever Im in stress, I do this basic steps, first i take a deep breath, second keeping myself calm as much as possible then third think the best solutions or alternatives that I can think of and pray, i know with the guide of God, I can surpass stress in a great chance. I make sure to myself that I have time between me and God therefore I can have peace and comfort.

I was diagnosed in 2004 with severe depression with panic attacks. I live with my daughter who is bi-polar and my 10 year old grandson who has ODD. I live with stress on a day-to-day basis. I think humor is a good way to dispell stress. Understanding yourself and realizing you left late and you may be late. If you are like me you are usually alittle early so where ever you are going has no right to find fault with you occasionally being late. I think it is important to avoid things you know stresses you out. Or, atleast know what will problem transpire and be ready for it. I am on medication for the panic attacks and I am certainly glad that I am. I forgot to take them(probably stressed and forgot. haha)for a couple of days and started to get panicky so I know I am on the right track taking the meds. Everyone is individual and you have figure what stresses you the most and find ways to lessen them. Leave the house earlier, can't do much if a system is offline and not your felt so no reason to stress. And try to laugh. The world isn't going to stop revolving, the cops won't be on your door stop, just breath and go with it.

Hi celticeagle, thank you so much for the sharing. Yes your right, problems and stressors around us is part of living life to the fullest. We should treat stress lightly and as you said - smile even thou heart is crying. Hard but we must take life positively.

It's just human for us to get upset in things, but what matters sometimes is how we handle these things and how this could affect the rest of what we do in a day. I've experience this many times, and based on what has happened, I usually think positive and move on if it's done or something that you can't change.

We can't always have the things our way. And even if how much effort we put into avoiding getting stresses, well, we end up getting more stressed. So it is much better to just let things go its natural course and have a positive outlook in life. For every problem, there surely is an answer.

Listening to music helps a lot for me. The type of music depends on the mood. What most helps me with stress is spending time with my girlfriend but we both have limited free time so we don't see each other very often. When I find myself in any of the situations you describe I start swearing in my head. It helps surprisingly well.

Hi Phoenixheart, Thanks for the response. Your true indeed that listening to music is a good diversion. However, there are times too that music is sometimes unhealthy when we are stress or depressed because at certain times we try to introject every lyrics of the music and relate to the mood that we are in to which makes us more depressed, most specially on love life issues. Have a great day.

I always have a bar of snickers in my bag! LOL. Funny, but true. Yes, I agree that being an optimist is a big advantage. However, there will always be times that you get so irritated or stressed up with something. For me, I try to divert my attention to something that makes me relax or happy. Food, especially chocolates, makes me happy. Sometimes I go buy milk tea! There are also times I just sit still and play games in my mobile phone. However, most of the time when I feel like my temper is rising, I just call my boyfriend and pour out everything to him. I think that's the most effective therapy you can have - to pour out and tell someone how bad your day is.

Well, i agree on the patience part is important when dealing with stress situations. In fact, its is the most important thing as well. After going through a lot of issues and such experiences, i am able to maintain my cool if not for my smile during such things.Sometimes, i turn my mind into something else and try to focus and think of it.It helps in forgetting issues on this front.Sometimes, in certain situations i listen to music or do some other things just to turn off my mind for sometime.Plus, its important we do not give much importance to internal or external stressors. I believe the secret of life is in finding happiness in each moment and living it to the fullest. If you think that those moments will not stay for long or that things will change also will help to be positive minded.Sometimes, losing temper is also good. That is only in the case where you can get positive or better results. But thinking about the stress, makes it worse.Well, i am also been able to keep the stress at bay though there are many things coming up.Well, good to know your thoughts and things. Thanks!

Stress is not avoidable.. For me you can always reduce it. One should think positive. You should get enough sleep and eat healthy food. Exercise is very important. Spending time with family and friends simply enlightens your day if you ate with them.

if we are stress our temper may easily burst out most especially if the person your talking with is not answering the question that you've asked. so when you feel stress you practice taking long deep breath, take regular break from your work, get regular exercise, and eat balanced diet. So that at the end of bad mood day at least you do something better.
17 Jan 13
When faced with such situations I could really lose my temper and do something else that sooner or later i would regret. But then when I try to look at it and understand, it makes me feel better. I console myself every time it and say maybe it's not meant to be or maybe God does not want it to be. As I console myself I feel better. Understanding a situation and looking at it in a positive way could get you stress free. So whenever faced with such situation asks for God's help and guidance in understanding why as such happened.

For me, I cope up with it by not focusing and worrying too much on things that can stress me. I put myself in a relax mode and by doing that I was able to handle my stress. In that, I go to a place where I can relax my body and especially my mind.

I believe everyone of us had dealt with stress already. me personally cant really escape from it. whenever im stresses im affected emotionally. i keep in thinking about it to the extent that im preoccupied already that leads me to procrastination. but i would just have to think about it overnight. so in the morning i made sure i pray first before dealing with it.

For me, it's a good thing to be all alone and think of that thing that stresses you and then think on how to overcome it...To be alone for me is the best thing to do because you can reflect on why that and those happened and afterwards, you will convince yourself that you are not a loser to let the stress ruin your mood and your day...:=)
