Don't Judge a Book By its Cover

There is a saying that we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. But we couldn't resist picking up a book if the cover looks interesting and has a pretty picture. We still have to read the back summary though in order to see if the book really interest us. I do get fooled by very good illustration of the cover thinking that the book is interesting but it turns out that some book who has nice covers are the ones that are boring and others that have plain cover are the interesting ones. how about you? Do you consider the cover when reading a book?

Hi friend, As you mentioned most of us are impressed with the cover before reading it, but it is not a good thing to judge a book based on the cover, we can come to know about it after reading it fully, i never judge a book based on the cover, but good cover will attract us a lot and make us to read the book

I tend to focus more on the title when looking for a book. If the title is something that doesn't interest me then I usually don't bother reading the back unless I am trying to kill time. Sometimes one work titles catch my eye a lot more than a book with two or more words for the title.

I always consider how the cover looks like and then read the synopsis at the back if there is one. If it's interesting enough, I'll buy the book. But for me, even plain front covers could sometimes be attractive especially if the color suits me. But you're right. There are still some very well-illustrated or well-designed front covers but the content or storyline is lame or uninteresting.

yes, i was same with you but not now. if the front cover interest me, i will read the synopsis at the back first before i buy it. or ask friends or book reviewer about the book to give the good and the bad of the book

Putting graphics and imagery on a book cover is a marketing strategy that most publications and book creatures make in order that they can boost sales on such written work. It is also a good way to put on an impression of what’s inside the book. But for some publisher’s more content is put on to what’s inside rather than outside. I believe that a book cover doesn’t define what the book is all about. What’s important is we look closely to the contents inside rather than looking it on its appearance.

This adage is about judging people and places, but really that's one of the only ways to judge a book aside from reading reviews of it. I have a hard time picking books that aren't organized by genre. Even then, if I am buying a book, I only purchase it if I have heard of it before and have heard good things about it. I also check out the author.
