Among the 365 days in a year, I am wondering why they choose 21 of December.

Good day Fellow Mylotters, I am just thinking why and what can be found during the 21st of December. Hence, it is always tag as the end of the world. As in many people from other countries as well, always claimed that this is the dooms day. And this is not just happened once, hence, it almost happened every year. Thus many people spread the news that 21st of December is claimed as the end of the world. I am just wondering why for so many dates in the calendar, the 21st day of December is always chosen.

Even I don't know what's the reason behind it. I have also thought about it a lot but couldn't find an answer, atleast a rumour. But I have also heard 12-12-12 will be the dooms day. I think this has came from the movie 2012. Anyway I am sure nothing will happen in either of these days. Live your life to fullest and enjoy....

December 21, 2012 is the first day of winter (the first day of the winter solstice), so the whole Mayan calendar thing probably just has to do with where their calendar ended (after all, they couldn't make a calendar that would stretch on for infinity, it had to have an end somewhere)...

I don't know if the 21st is always predicted to be the end time but I think that this is just a slick way for business people to make money off a unsuspecting public. I stop believing in these so-called doomsday predictions because as far as I can remember none have come true. So this should tell us something about these doomsday predictions bah humbug, BS!. The 21st is the new century and it is convenient since they claim the Mayan calendar ends on this date which in fact the calendar just rolls over.

No on can predict the end of the world. No man-made thing such as the Mayan calendar can ever be taken as basis for such predictions. Let me quote a passage in the bible how only on knows the truth about the second coming or judgement day or say as you please whatever you wish regarding the end of the world. Mark 34-36 states: "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows."

With that, would you still believe or be alarmed if a human being brags and give out a prediction , even orally announcing the date? Again, allow me to read a quote from the bible how these false prophets are likened: Proverbs 13:5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

Here are some doomsday predictions that failed: 1. Pope Innocent II: year 1284 2. Martin Luther: 1600 3. Christopher Columbus: 1658 4. Joseph Smith: 1890-1891 5. Rev. Jim Jones: 1967 6. Charles Manson: 1969 7. Harold Camping: May 21, 2011 and Oct. 21, 2011 8. Etc.. etc... etc... Now, with hundreds that failed would you believe another prediction rather than, Mark 34-36 states: "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows."..???

2012 Dec. 21, marks the conclusion of the 5,125-ye - 2012 Dec. 21, marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year “Long Count” Mayan calendar
The doomsday theory on 21 December 2012 comes about because that day marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year “Long Count” Mayan calendar which some people take it as the last day of the world because the Mayans, with their expertise in astrology, produced very detailed and accurate calender based on the planetary positions, but their five thousand years long calender stops at 21 December 2012. That is how the date is mentioned as the day that is the last day of time.

That date is actually the date of someone's birthday. Haha just a joke. Due date in the Mayan calendar there are no date after 21.12.2012. So there are some people conclude 21.12.2012 is end of the world. When this rumors spread there are some people who take advantage by selling books and ebook about 'how to save in year 21.12.2012'.

"someone's birthday" That reminds me of my favorite episode of ATHF. Shake says: You know how many birthdays there are a year? Thousands. Literally thousands.

I dont know about ATHF series. Are you you willing to buy a book or ebook about 'how to save in year 21.12.2012'? I see the author of the book sell this expensive with price. When we buy his book i think the world not end but the end of money.

Well, it was because of the Mayan calendar...that this is the end of the world....but scholars already explained this that it was actually the 'end of a cycle'. So meaning, end of a particular time of a Mayans. So I think it is just like December 31...the last day of the year....

Hheeheh...you should ask the expert or new channels persons why choose this day for ending the world. I not believe on this because any day may be the last day for me not only 21st. I believe on today not on tomorrow. No option other than wait and watch.

Hmm,21st December is also considered as the winter solstice, when the night is longest. Mainly due to the solar system, the daylight changes all the time. In my country, winter solstice is kind of a festive to celebrate, for the hard works finished by people. But this year, 2012, since the same name movie, we all regard 21st Dec 2012 as the doomsday. The Maya calender predict this day as the end of the world. It is mysterious and some people are already nervous about it. In my view, we should just live as the ordinary day.

I have watched an episode about this on national geographic and what they say the end of the world is based on a mayan calendar. Maya were considered the masters of time and this calendar is known as the Long Count Calendar. Each time the Long Count ended, a cycle of time also ends. And these masters of time predicted the end of the world just because their calendar is ending. Weird.

I never believe what the end of the world, because i believe our earth is still very young.Just now we are in a panic,I believe all the lie will be pass.

As for the month december, looking at it as the last month of the year maybe for some reasons that it is associated as the last month of the world. Hope not! Anyways just live life like it is the first and last day of your life.

It was the perfect time to end a calendar. It had to end sometime. It couldn't have gone on for infinity. An event--that's not uncommon, mind you--happens here, and for ancient peoples, this undoubtedly seemed like something amazing. What a way to end an era. Some people have latched onto this to mean something much more than it actually does. I'll be here on the 22nd to let people know that it's actually okay that the world didn't end.

Based on the Mayan calendar, December 21 will be the end of the world. However, there are some studies conducted that the calendar the Mayan used was miscalculated therefore it is predicted that it will end in a few hundred years from now and not on December 21. Doomsday or the second coming of Christ is not even specified on the Holy bible, when, how, what will happen during that time. The bible only hinted some events before such doomsday occurrence. All people should do now is to pray, have faith in God and live peacefully and honestly. The end of the world is not just an automatic event that will happen in a blink of an eye, but I think man will be responsible for such destruction. The warring nations who are tooting their nuclear arsenals will be the one who will create a man-made doomsday, when greed and anger will influence their leaders.

The reason why 21 Dec is chosen because that is the date whereby the Mayan calendar / prediction ends. Many people has put the end of the calendar to mean the end of the whole. What makes is believable is that some of the Mayan's prediction is spot-on.

I do not believe that would be the end of the world. There is no concrete reference for that exact date I think and only God knows it no one else. I am also wondering where they get that exact date.

Actually, according to what i've read, the mayan calendar end up in that date. But it's not stated as the end of the world but the end of galaxy (or whatever it is they're in space) rotation towards the biggest sun (its not sun though but the performance is like a sun for universe) so after 21st of december we'll have a new era after empty zone where electromagnetics don't work. Not that i believe of it though. -_-
