Best responses

December 11, 2012 8:38pm CST
Since I'm still new in this site, I still have a lot more things to learn and maybe some help from the oldtimers will do me good. I noticed that in the "discussion" column there's a category like a "best response" and I just need some elaborations on how one post or comment can get the "best response" thing? Is there a criteria to be able to get it? And do we get extra points if we get this "best response" tag? Please help. Thank you guys.

Whenever I post discussion, I put the best response after a week. I rate ( + ) to all the people who commented to my discussion. Through this way, I will be able to help them increase their reputation or rank. It is a free button so why take away an opportunity to thank people paid attention to your discussion. Why not take the opportunity to appreciate the people who took time, waste energy and free their mind to answer or comment to your discussion. Rating the person will help them increase their reputation or rank. Best Response button, one of the features here in mylot, I choose the best response among the comments using one criterion, I give it to the person who stayed focus on the discussion, through exchange of comments from me or from other users. It is free ..so why not use and share...

Oh glad to know this. It is not really that important, however the joy it may give to someone who will receive it will serve as a motivation to the person to be more participative discussions. and you know the feeling could be, " awww I have the best response.. weeeeheeeeeeee "

I had the same question in my mind - so glad for this info! I agree that we should all start using that BR button. 'what goes around, comes around' hey! Let's share love and care towards each other! Thanx Mavic123456

I think it is fully under discretion of the member who started discussion. I have found some responses selected as the best having lesser gravity than some other responses there. A few of my responses were blessed by the best response selection and I don't think that I got any extra points.

the three buttons only says, rate this: +, the other one says rate this: -, and the last says report abuse...

Thanks to all of you guys for sharing your time and knowhows... so maybe I'll just wait for a few more days before I hit the BR on this post? I just discovered the ratings procedure because of your responses and I'll just try to apply it. thanks again people. Have fun everyone.

Depending on the type of discussion, I award best responses to.the comments that were the most helpful. If my discussion is about an enquiry, the person with the most valuable and well-structured response will get my BR. If my post is personal, the criteria is subjective and I give it based on how this response helps me with my problem or gives me a useful solution or sometimes I choose the most honest response. I am not sure if it adds to the member's points but it certainly makes this comment more valuable in the discussion.

If you go to the discussions you started like this one, you will see 'mark best response' next to the usernames and User Ratings of each of your responders.

Ok, I got it sishy7. It's the "mark best response" after the username, ranking, then category... I'm so sorry for being so.... well thanks a lot...

No worries at all... Now, you can only choose one BR; so it is advisable to wait for some time (at least a week more or less) before you decide on one to give chances for other responses coming in later to be considered as well... You can only give the BR to the responder, and not to any comments under the response.

When you started a discussion, you have the option to award the best response to a member from those who made a response to your started discussion. You can set your own criteria. The benefit it can give you is that if you are awarding best response, most likely, members will be encouraged to drop their response/s whenever you start a new discussion. However, it does not make any changes as far as earning is concerned. Have a nice day!

Oh thank you Aries1973, I'm so sorry for the late response, my net connection encountered some problems... So it's on my own discretion to give the BR to anyone I chose to... Thanks again.

Best Response is being given by the person who started the discussion. And also he is the one who is going to set the criteria you were asking. If the author of that particular discussion thinks that a certain comment is really really good and relevant to the discussion he started then he may mark it as the best response. This is one reason why we are encouraged to write things that are related to the discussion.

Oh yes, devonavis, "Relevance" is the key... and helpful, or informative... I got it. Thanks, and so sorry for the late reponse.

Don't take it literally friend. Just give your usual replies as if you are talking casually. That will do.
12 Dec 12
Yeah, actually I find it hard to just join in a discussion where I can't give a quality response. Maybe that's why until now I have so little connections made. Thank you nittinair89.

I guess the criteria are based to the discussion maker. If you answered what he or she asked and you really did well in organizing your thoughts, I guess you can get the best response. There's no additional points when you get the best response. Just keep on posting and always give your best shot. Welcome to myLot!

hi, i don't know the exact rate of points in best response, but to pointed as a best response it will depend upon the creator of the discussion, sometimes they choose those long sentences or paragraph or those responses who answered their questions.
