I spent the weekend sewing up an order for 24 mini mitts. They are made from quilted fabric and are small and used to carry hot plates or bowls. They are not hot pads. A woman ordered them for Christmas gifts.....I am so glad that I am finally done with orders. I still haven't made my Christmas cards and might use boughten ones this year.....It is so nice to have it behind me. I just have to clean the craft room now then I can enjoy my time up there....doing what I want for me! Did you have alot of things you made for Christmas? Are you wrapping things up and enjoying your time now?

I did not get anything really made this yr. like I wanted too, and a lot of it has been due to my Health. I need to get more organized ahead of time next yr. But when you have an order like this, and can get it done, this must really be a relief. I know when I have a project I am trying to work on, when I get it done it makes me feel like I accomplished a lot. If you have to buy Christmas Cards people will understand.

Cleaning up the mess, jill...often that is the hardest part! I know when I did things like this...by the time I was done, I was so sick of doing the craft, that I'd just get a box and dump everything in it and set it out of sight somewhere and not bother putting it all away until January!

I still need to get wrapping paper! I didn't have many people to buy for this year since my sister didn't want to exchange presents. Funny how she and her husband had plenty of money and didn't want to do it, yet my father and I who struggle were looking forward to buying for them. I LOVE shopping for my sister. I was bummed I couldn't do it. I wanted to buy something for them anyway, but my sister told me if I did she would get very angry. I'm pretty sure if someone bankrolled you, you would have a very successful store. Having seen your work up close I can truthfully say you are the most talented crafter I've ever seen!

Hi Jill, good for you and now you can relax a bit. Those mini mitts sound so cute. You know what I thought was a pretty good idea too if these little mini mitts that just go over the handle. I saw them when I was buying my son-in-law's cast iron skillet. Is that something that you're talking about? I haven't started my wrapping yet but will soon enough. I did get my cards done today and all written out. Now I have to walk over to the mailbox and get them in there. I am enjoying everything though and I'm in no rush. My daughter is having a small Christmas get-together this Saturday so that should be fun. It all started out with 3 people and now we got a bunch coming over, haha.

Sounds like fun! I had one Christmas party last night...next week I have one on both Monday and Tuesday! I am so tired though. Time to wind down me thinks! They are mitts though that fit just over the fingers and thumb....they kind fold in the middle...they were a bugger to sew though! She was very happy with them. I tied Christmas ribbon on them with a little bell. She is very overweight and legally blind and can't really shop....so I made them just a bit more Christmasy.....and she gave me a little extra moola in exchange!

Gosh, those sound soooo cute! Do they really work ok? You are such a nice lady to do that for her...I'm sure she was just thrilled. Always nice to get some of that extra moola for a job well done.

All right. I personally this Christmas, I would like to dedicate entirely to other people, or better, to my dear family. I decided to devote my entire 13th month salary, half to my dear parents, the other to my brother that it has bought a new phone. Nothing for me because I have already enought. Is still the feast of Santa Claus with its immense charm. Merry Christmas!

Congrats on finishing the task. I have lots to still do and hope to catch up with the important things on the list. There are a few ornaments that need to go on the tree and lots of baking to complete.

I used to get that way to a point. I spent so much time doing for others, that I didn't do for myself! Right now...well, last couple years...and I wasn't even doing crafting then.. but I get all excited about the holiday and decorating etc... and do it, but then about 2 weeks before christmas I start getting ancy....tired of all the "clutter" of the decorations..having to move things to allow the decorations to be there and things are out of order etc. Now that I am quilting and crafting again...this week I finished the quilts I made for my grand kids gifts and started thinking of what to do next and got couple ideas but I can't start till after Christmas and can't wait for it to all be over! Granted, this won't be a very happy christmas this year so that is part of my "is christmas over yet?" feeling, but still... I know the feeling of doing so much for others...to the point you might not even enjoy the reason! I also used to bake TONS...and give away and all, and still after christmas.. I'd have so much left over, I felt...why bother? No one eats them. But was told...it isn't that they don't like/eat what i make, it is just that I make SO MUCH...that what is eaten/taken...doesn't put a dent in the mother lode!!!

How long did it take for you to make those mitts, Jill? I have been knitting a pair of fingerless gloves for my daughter. She's 12 and she likes those kind of gloves. I've been knitting bath mitts, too. I use cotton yarn for those. I think I have 7 or 8 of those made up. It's a very simple pattern for the mitts, too. If I had a full day to sit and knit one of those, I would but I have so much other stuff going on, too.

It took a while.....first I had to go to another town to get the fabric as our JoAnn's left and moved away. Then wash and dry the material....about 8 hours cutting and sewing. I am so glad they are done!

I have some gifts but have not wrapped a sausage! Will get down to it maybe tomorrow. I did bake today but it is not finished and i made a huge mistake by leaving out a vital ingredient. I'm blaming it on my memory problem since anesthetic. Surely it can't be old age? The doctor did say that it will take up to a year for me to reach optimum. I also forget the right word. But back to your discussion. I am happy that yu have finished so you can now enjoy yur Christmas. We do have the tree up amd as it is our custom to spruce up everything. I have a yung man painting white trim outside of house and inside the sitting room area. I also bought material to recover two sofas for Christmas. Plain cream was not a good colour to choose when twins are living here I had better stop mylotting and make a list for tomorrow. On the top will be present for teacher

Yes I still have things I want to continue as I am in the mood for angels, Santa Claus, and all the things that make Christmas Christmas. I've set goals and keep time limits for myself as I could just continue to create without realizing the time that has passed. My storage room is full of liquor boxes of all things that are packed with my work for the next show and the same show one year later. It looks like we run a bar! I am enjoying myself perfecting my craft, which I love. My next goal is to create a space that inspires me. So it comes down to I will sell what I have and after that their gone till I get around to make more. Because I am retired I've got the time. You'd never know it by all the running around I'm doing. When did I have time to work?

I also had a very big order last Christmas. It was a 100+ pieces giveaway and I got really stressed out because it was a very rush order and I only have less than 10 days to finish all of it. Good thing my cousins celebrated Christmas with us and she and my husband helped me to get everything done in time. I had no sleep at all for 3 days straight, But it was so worth it because we had a lot of money in the entrance of the new year and we made a lot of shopping. We had so much fun after all the hard work. :)

I made a few things for christmas - knitted dish clothes, a quilted table runner and a pair of slippers. I got several patterns and more wool for christmas (Thrilled me) and my grandma gave me a pattern for mittens when i stopped to visit her in the summer.
