Christmas is Not in the Air?

Christmas is coming! I am really excited with it. But, I just felt that Christmas is not in the air. I really do not feel so much the presence of Christmas. Compared to few years back, I can see lots of Christmas decorations in every houses or also in the streets. I could see also several Christmas trees and Christmas lights though now, I could barely see such. How I wish I could turn back time when Christmas was so merry to all of the people. What just happened now?

This Christmas season is so different, I do have the same thinking the people are not that too excited. Even in my hometown, the Christmas tree they had built in the town was not installed the previous years. Things changed through the years.

I thought, I am only the one feeling such. Yes, I guess it had already changed a lot. I wonder what would Christmas be for the next several years. I do hope people with then again embrace the spirit of this wonderful season.

I understand exactly what you are saying. I have felt the same way. Christmas is just not the same no more the world isn't the same anymore. I have a daughter and pregnant with my son and im excited this will be her first christmas but it still is not that exciting overall. People use Christmas for all the wrong reasons anyway.

Yes, in the past, I really enjoyed Christmas. There is something lacking with the Christmas spirit today. I just hope that the true blue of Christmas would spring again. I just really hope.

Personally I am feeling a lot more christmassy this year than I have for several years.Usually I don't really get into the Christmas mood till Christmas eve but this year i'm already in the Christmas mood and I have no idea what if anything is different about this year to previous Christmasses. Everybody else seems to be behaving in the same way they do every Christmas.I havent noticed any more or any less Christmas cheer this year. All I can think is that I am becoming a much more cheerful person.Im hoping that this Christmas will live up to me excitement and be on of the best we have ever had especially for my little cousins as Christmas is more a time for the children than it is for the grown ups.

I do not observe X-mas but yes I have observed that this season is not like the other years wherein there's grand preparation everywhere. Maybe because the world is changing and now most people are not observing this season due to different reasons. but one thing is for sure- people are getting smarter how to spend their money.

Honestly, I don't think there are truly that many people that are actually in the real Christmas spirit... After all, most people are focused on themselves and buying, buying, buying! Just go to the mall and you can see the "Christmas spirit"... Crikey...

Yeah, the childhood is more happy than now. Every one celebrate for this festival, but now, the young pepole often celebrate for other festival, so the Christmas atmosphere is becoming more less!!

I love Christmas time and seldom have the problem of not feeling the Christmas spirit. It seems that there is something out there that is making war on Christmas, though, and that makes it hard to be completely happy about it. Also, financial problems are common to most people right now and that makes it worse. Another thing, at least for me, is that people don't seem to be happy any more. There are so many rude and crude people who are angry with everyone and everything that one is almost afraid to smile and say Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays, if you wish). I think we need to look within ourselves to create Christmas instead of relying on outside things to make it for us.

I agree with you on this! I was just telling my husband the same thing. I am actually excited for Christmas and not feeling the huge stress that I usually would be feeling. I realized last week that I was in the Christmas spirit when I found some Christmas music and found some snowmen that I would put up in my house. Kinda ironic that I am planning to put as many snowmen up in my house this year as I can and we have NO snow outside at all. This joy for Christmas is coming from within myself and I dont feel it outside of me really. I mean my children are excited to get a few gifts and see all of our family but it isnt the same. You are right.

Days passed so swiftly. The memories of the past Christmas is still very fresh in my mind and could not believe that Christmas is here again and we will celebrate it again few days from now. Indeed the Christmassy feel is lacking with some kind of joy Not everyone are interested in hanging Christmas lights or lanterns these days. Maybe they want to save on electricity or is it because they are so busy and don't have time for that. Gone are the days when the feel of Christmas is something that will really make your heart glad. I wish I could turn back the hands of time.

I have no Christmas spirit! Even though it is in the air and everywhere! Christmas for me has been pretty much ruined for along time. I have had way to many lousey Christmas's over the years! My Christmas spirit is gone thanks to the retail stores pushing Christmas, especially the sales, earlier and eariler every year! Everything is so commericalized! Christmas is not what it has been and it is sad! People get more into debt. So many people get presents they hate. Alot of children are spoiled rottan. It is ridiculous! It is all ba humbug to me!

This Christmas is going to be worse after the dreadful massacre of small children in the US. It is bound to affect us all, especially those with children themselves. This Christmas people are poorer and electricity is dearer, so there will be fewer lights in houses or in streets this year. The cost of a Christmas tree here in a pot is 120 euros for a tree of about 5 feet. That much money can pay for a good Christmas dinner and some presents too. An attractive artificial tree is half that price, but still a lot to pay for something that is only on display for 4 weeks of the year. Christmas has never been merry for everyone especially the poor. We may remember Christmas as being very merry when we were young, we have our parents to thank if that was the case. It may have seemed less merry to them but they determined to make it merry for their children.

I think even if you can't see decorations for Christmas it's not a guarantee that Christmas is not in the air. Seeing a decorations is one of the evidence that Christmas is on the air but the real Christmas is in our heart. You can still feel it without seeing some decorations compared before. You can also hear christmas songs. And for other people Christmas is really on the air and for some it's not. We can choose which one we like. It's our choice to feel the Christmas.
