I know hamsters sleep during the day, and awake at night. Well when I went to bed last night, she was up roaming her cage. She then lied down, so I thought this is odd. I woke up at 2 am to her running in her wheel. I guess it woke Max & Gizmoe up and they woke me up. I fell back to sleep shortly after. I am on the hunt for some hamster toys to keep her amused at night. I got her a new water dish at Walmart (as she doesn't understand the water bottle), and got a cocunut hut, then a little plastic igloo today, but they didn't have any treats or toys.

She sounds like she is settling quite nicely into her new home. Have you checked Amazon for rodent toys? They usually seem to have just about everything; at least, the American site does. I've noticed the selection isn't quite as good on some of Amazon's other incarnations.

I've never had a pet hamster, but I remember that my cousins that lived with my grandmother for part of their childhood did have a hamster and boy was that animal noisy during the night. I know that they are nocturnal animals and it is their nature to play during the night. My grandmother finally told my cousins that they needed to move their hamster from their room to another room in the house so that the hamster would not keep them up at night running on its wheel.
