***Shopping Today Was Nothing But A Pain!***My Turn To Rant***

March 8, 2013 4:24pm CST
Ok, I had to go grocery shopping today plus to Walmart...I haven't been shopping for about 3 1/2 weeks so there was an awful lot of items I needed to buy and replenish. Mind you, I don't have a car and I have to borrow my daughters, she's so sweet. Anyways, since I have to borrow her car I like to get ALL my shopping done in one day. Don't get me wrong, she'd let me borrow it anytime I would like, but it's a 2012 leased Kia and I just want to drive it as little as possible. I normally borrow it every 2 weeks....this time was well over that so I was pretty low on stuff. I went first to do my groceries.....well, my cart got so full so fast I couldn't even finish my shopping and had to stop with half the list yet...talk about a pain. So, I thought ok, I'll go home and unload (up two flights of stairs mind you) which I had to make 3 trips up and down......ugh. Then I figured I'll wait for the mailman because I knew he was bringing me my books from Ebay today. If I'm not home, he won't leave them out because they won't fit in the mailbox and I don't want them stolen. Ok, mailman came, got that over with and went back to the grocery store and finally finished up. Now it's getting later and I still have to get my daughter from work and I still need to go to Walmart to get my hand weights, and bring back some items. Into Walmart I go taking back a pair of cute boots that I thought might have went on sale and I paid full price which was $28.00. They still had the tags on them and I bought them "2 weeks" ago. I also had a sweater I needed to return for a different size and a cami that was too small. I'm waiting in line and finally it's my turn. Ok, the first thing I do is take the boots out and ask if she could check and see if these went on sale, leaving the bag wide open with my other stuff sticking out. She tells me they went on sale for $13.00!! Oh Yeh! I was so happy! Well, I told her I'll keep them and just get the sale price. Nope. Walmart will only give you the sale price is you return them in 7 days. WHAT!!! Seriously! Really??? I was really upset with this...these still had the tags on them and everything. Nope, wouldn't do it. I told her I don't want them and I was fuming and she knew it. She refunds my boots and I wasn't paying attention because I was so pi$$ed off and she never refunds my other items. I look and said, did you refund these? She gets snooty with me and says "Oh I didn't think you wanted to return that!" I'm ready to explode now..why the heck would I bring these items in a bag with the boots if I didn't want to return them!!!!.....I could have screamed! And she's getting snooty with me?? I was ready to jump over the counter. Finally I'm done and go do my other shopping but before I leave I thought I'm going to ask a Manager about those boots. Maybe they'll let it slide and I can still get them. Well, I did and they still said no. Is that dumb or what?? I didn't have these for a month or more or anything like that....only 2 weeks! All they are going to do is put them back on the shelf. And I won't have the car tomorrow so now I'm stuck. EWWWWWW, I'm soooo aggravated! Wow, this is too long....sorry...had to rant! I think they should have let me get those boots!

Now wait, she said you can't get them at 13.00 because it was over 7 days ago? What if you returned the boots, got your money back and then bought them at the sale price? Or were you afraid they wouldn't have the same ones on the shelf? In that case I would have returned them, gone back to the show rack and if they didn't have the same boots, then I'd go up to the service desk, point out the boots I just returned and see if they would allow me to buy them at the 13.00 price. I don't see why they can't, unless they are just being jerks about it...

That stinks...If it was me, I'd have my husband stop at walmart on his way home from work every day, but I guess that isn't an option for you..

Hi Carm.....yes, she wouldn't do it because it was over 7 days. Problem is, it is the only pair left in my size in black. They only have a few pairs of boots because they've all been on sale and they don't have any of these style boots left. So, they probably will put these boots back out tonight, when I don't have the car anymore. I can't get up there. I asked a manager about this "before I left" the store...told her the whole situation and she told me no, only if they were brought back within the 7 days. I said, so, in other words, I have to wait until you put them back out on the shelf in the store and then re-buy them?..and she said "yes". That's what is pi$$ing me off. They just wouldn't let me get that sale price. It's just plain stupid to me.

So sorry that you had a hard time with your returns it was and is great that your daughter allow you to use the car to get your shopping done but something to think about is the both of you car pool and save money and time plus miles on the car as it is a lease and they charge over the miles price what ever it is

Hi blackrusty...well, she works right by where I shop, and from my apartment to the shopping center is under 1 mile. It doesn't really do much on the mileage. We do go shopping together sometimes but there's only so much room in the car for both of us to put our groceries. I usually take the car when she's at work all day and then just go pick her up. She doesn't come even near to going over the mileage yearly on the car..even with going on vacation to Dewey Beach in Delaware which is far away. That was a good idea though and I appreciate it.

Bless your heart sounds like a very trying day. I hate when clerks get snotty with me. There is no excuse for that behavior when they know when they take a job that customer service is what they are going into. I am shocked they wouldn't give you the sale price after only 2 weeks that is nuts. I guess they don't care about customer service at all. I hope your night goes better for you!

Yes, a very trying day, lol! It's bad enough going shopping for groceries once but when you have to go back and get more...ugh. And I had just as much the second time around but luckily my daughter was with me the second time so I had help going up the stairs..yea! I actually was really shocked too. It really amazed me because they weren't worn..still had the tags on them. I would understand it if I wore them and wanted to still get the sale price, but this was totally different. Very bad service to me.

what a sorry thing to happen and I cannot believe that Walmart would do this. I actually love to rummage around Walmart as I can get bargains but I do not get to the US often. I can understand your anger and frustration and also it was a very hectic and tiring day for you. Go back with them at the next opportunity and see if you can get the refund. best of luck and take it easy for the rest of the day, will you please?

Sorry you had a rough day today Kash! I am starting to hate walmart lately. They are very annoying with their silly rules, I feel like they add another rule every day with their returns... So stupid. They make enough money there to choke a horse! I try to avoid that store like the plague! Lol. I am glad you got done what you needed to get done though. =) I hope your evening is better.

My evening was going good until a couple of minutes ago when the guy upstairs from me came home. He's the one that plays his video games loud until the wee hours of the morning. All I do is bang on the wall all the time to get him to quiet it down....but even so, with the audio on those games it's still loud and I hate it. Anyway, haha, I hope he sort of keeps it down tonight as I'm pretty beat. Yeh, Walmart better not start acting like a real classy place with all these rules..it's ridiculous. Such a simple thing...return and refund my boots for $28 and re-sell them to me for the $13 sale price...simple. Instead I just plain returned them because I couldn't get the damn sale price.

That is one reason why, I don't like shopping at walmart, they are so weird with these returns, I had a cell phone, and I had it for a week, and I returned it, and the lady asked me was anything wrong with the cell phone, I told her no, I just didn't want, the phone any more, and I had my sell slip and got my money back to I alway make sure I have my sells slip when i return items back to walmart, since they want to act, so weird about things.

I guess..I just never had a problem before. All I wanted was the sale price. All she had to do was refund them, which she did, then resell them to me for the sale price. It just wasn't a big deal but the answer was no, they can't do that. It's just plain stupid to me...

Personally, is it just me, or is WalMart becoming lax in honoring even Clearance prices anymore? About a month ago we had an issue with something ringing up way higher than it should that was on a shelf area with all clearanced items. We bought one bag of Chips it said the $1 price like on the shelf. The other one rang up like $2.49. We did not catch it until after she handed us the receipt. When I brought it up she only gave $1 back not the $1.49 and acted like that was all she owed? I wonder where they get their help from these days.

Doesn't that just irk you??? Sorry I haven't been here for a while..took a break away from here. But anyways, these darn cashiers sometimes make you feel like they own the store...she should have given you back the full price and I would have waited until she did. How ridiculous is that! This isn't out of their personal pockets, it's a refund because of a mistake! I thought the whole thing about the boots as just idiotic. They were going to put them back on the shelf anyways, so why not just let me re-purchase them...how dumb is that!

It's hardly going to dent their profits is it? I mean in the interest of customer service and keeping the customer happy, they aren't being very accommodating are they? Don't apologize my friend, we all need a rant, and if we can't get it off our chests we only brood about it, and that's not healthy. Mylot is an excellent platform to be able to voice our concerns, irritations and just plain offload. Hope you feel better for it!

No problem my dear friend, as much as we love Mylot, we still need a break from time to time, and as to the responses, I see what you mean, but hey they can be quite comical at times! Laughter is the best medicine.. Glad I made you feel better!

Hi wolfie! Sorry, haven't been here in a couple of weeks..needed a break. I'm so, soooooo happy you understand what I'm saying..some of these responses..oh, never mind, I'll be nice, lol! Anyways, yeh, you'd think they would have done this as it's not a big deal, but they made it one. I hope the da_n boots don't sell, haha, and they stay on the shelf until summer and they have to get rid of them. I was really pi$$ed off when this happened and you're right, I needed to vent because I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I've heard of in a long time. I don't usually do much complaining here or talking about problems, but this one got me and yes, reading your answer I feel better about it.

hi kashmeresmyhcat oh my yes I think they should have let you have the boots at sale price as other stores do that but not Walmart I guess.I think it was Mervyns that the saleslady told me a dress I bought may go on sale in two weeks so if it does bring it back and i did and I got ten dollars off the original price so that was nice. Shame on Walmart for not honorng that sales price.

I say the same thing Hatley..shame on Walmart. I did return the boots and got my refund back...I did not want to pay the full price since the sale price was such a BIG difference. A couple of bucks wouldn't make me feel so pi$$y but we're talking a difference of $15. and that's a lot of money. So I was willing to buy them back at the sale price and they said no. Now what if these go back on the shelf and don't sell? Who loses? It was just plain stupid to me that they would not take these back.

Hi Sugar...I normally have no problem with Walmart. There's only certain things I buy there. These boots just happen to be one of them. I think it was just plain stupid of them not to give me the sale price. So in the end I returned them and they lost out anyways. How dumb is that? Yeh, shopping was noooo fun today, lol! I had so much to get it was crazy. Only good thing about it was that my daughter was able to help me carry them up the stairs the second time...that was a relief. I'm not no young chick anymore, haha. It's not my favorite thing to do, that's for sure.

tHEY CAN BE CONTRARY about returns especially at the opne here. I never go here because i can't walk the store it's too big & u can never get one of the carts to ride. I'm so glad your daughter was there to help u. Getting things in the house is a big problem for me. My grandson is very good to help me, bless his heart. My sons will help to but they are not always around when i go to the store. I'm an old hen instead of a chick.. hope u are having a good weekend.

Hi! Yes I understand how you felt that way as some stores are better with refunds/ exchanges than others. Is there a chance you could swap the item with a friend of yours? As I am member of a coupon group we do exchange stories of how some stores are better at refunding or exchanging than others. Is there one in your area so when you go shopping, you will have a better chance of being treated better? Hope things will turn around for you. :)

I returned the boots and got my money back. I just wanted to re-buy them at the cheaper price since I never wore them, and it was only two weeks later.

The trick to the boot thing is to return them for the original price with receipt, then ask them to give them to you because you are going to repurchase them. This is how we do and so far no problems. There is more then one way to skin a cat.

Um, that's exactly what I did. This is what I'm irritated about. They wouldn't let me re-purchase them until they went out on the rack back in the shoe department. I thought I stated that in my discussion.

As far as I'm concerned, Walmart lost a sale. I returned them, wanted to re-buy them, they said no, not until they were on the floor. That's what was irritating to me. I shopped for almost 1 1/2 hours there buying what I needed and went to see if they were out in the shoe department. They still weren't. I looked around some more, picked up a few items, went back and checked again, and they STILL weren't out on the floor. That's when I decided to check out. As I was leaving, I mentioned what happened to me to a Manager, and she told me I'd have to come back the next day when they went out on the floor. That to me was really bad customer service. The boots were only bought 2 weeks prior to the sale, not months later. I never went back.

I must have read it wrong, Walmart's policy is if it is on the floor you can buy it.

I hate returning anything. But, most of the time it works out pretty well. Only had one minor problem am that was with Walmart too. The items was on sale and I paid full price, refund was sale price, I think that is cheating. It you find it difficult to get out why not use the Internet to purchase your food and items you want. I use eBay to purchase clothing but have purchased food for my brother who didn't live new me so I had it delivered via Peapod. Peapod is a delivery service with certain grocery stfores. Worth a try and I think, but not sure, amazon has food

I am a dealer on Ebay and a buyer. They couldn't have given me a sale price as I had the receipt with me and paid full price. They HAD to give me the full price. I was looking to see if I could re-buy them at the sale price and they wouldn't let me so I just plain returned them and got full price back. I do purchase items on the internet through Ebay all the time, but not food as I don't need to. I just couldn't use the car that same day as I didn't want to ask my daughter again. I use the car about every 2 weeks.

Because I was up very early I knew I could go to Walmart today and beat the crowds. So I went. And there were no crowds. I still left feeling depressed. I started shopping at Target and when I went back to Walmart today I decided to test the theory on just how much cheaper Walmart was than Target. Because Target is less crowded, the employees are super nice, and they gave me a refund so fast one time I couldn't believe I was so reluctant to come in. So when I got out of Walmart today I compared it to the Target receipt I had from a week ago. Walmart's orange juice was only 8 cents cheaper than the same brand with Target. However, a can of soup from Walmart, was 30 cents MORE than the same can of soup at Target. So now I'm going back to Target and not going to feel sorry anymore. Now I know I'm not spending any more money than I normally would.

Sorry I haven't been here for a while....taking a break from myLot. I noticed something today about Target....I called to see if they had 24" bicycles and they answered immediately...and then I was tranferred over to the sports section and THEY answered immediately. Now THAT is uncommon. Usually you have to wait forever for someone to answer, so I say Kudos to Target for customer service. The kid checked for me and came back with my answer and the prices of each 24" bike. I thought that was great. I called Sears and the phone's rang forever. They finally answered, switched me over to sports and a woman answered. They had no 24" bikes so they lost a customer on that one, lol! Target is a very clean store and I enjoy shopping there.
